I guess time will tell, but I see Rose having a better rookie year than Williams and Rose has a way bigger upside than Williams and IMO will be a way better pro than Mayo.

The whole article was completely stupid. The guy was arguing as if your rookie numbers mean everything. Deron Williams has basically the same rookie numbers Jay Williams did. I think Jay would have been really good, and I think Rose will be better then both as a rookie. Alot of that article was taking bits and pieces of information, omitting other key pieces of information, and relying very heavily on statisitcs, a sign of weak sports acumen.

This guy can go sleep in the same bed with Jeff Passan. Seriously it's gotta be the easiest job in the world to be a sports writer.

You get to make absolutely ridiculous predictions, assumptions, and observations--and if one pussy hair's percent is right, suddenly you're a genius and you win the Pulitzer.

Eff this guy. Did he not watch OJ Mayo in the tournament? You wouldn't have seen much...

Not that Mayo won't make a great NBA player, but what the hell (when it mattered) did you see out of Mayo that makes you think he'll be better than Rose?

That he was completely outplayed by Michael Beasley, especially down the stretch, and lost to an inferior Kansas St. squad.

My favorite part from the article:

"and frankly, it might not be close."

Frankly, this guy might not be an idiot.

Looks like Rose knows how to hit the gas.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/basketba ... 08.article

A contrite Derrick Rose said Tuesday night that his charge for allegedly driving more than 100 mph on Interstate 88 was ''a big mistake'' that he vowed never to repeat.

Rose, 19, must appear in Kane County Court this month after he was ticketed for driving about 105 mph in a 65 mph zone while heading east on I-88 about two months ago, acknowledged Rose and Terry Ekl, a lawyer representing Rose

First off:
Jay Williams was a better shooter (form) out of college than Rose will be, unless Rose gym rats it for the whole summer (which he may)
Secondly, Jay was explosive, but he played for Duke, and as a Duke fan, I feel I am qualified to say all Duke players end up less in the NBA then they were on the college level, perhaps with the exception of Battier. Even Brand was what he now is in college.
Third, Rose and Williams are about equal as far as free throws go...witness Duke's loss to Indiana because Jason couldn't hit his free throws in the Tournament...
But Fourth, Rose is taller, has more ups, has longer arms, is a better defender (Williams had quick hands but stone legs), Rose wants the ball on the line, Rose is a far better passer and Rose is better at finishing at the hole-Williams finished well at the hole only on fastbreaks.
Had Jason played more than a couple of seasons, he could have been a good player. His problem was he was a shooting guard in a point guard's body. That and paired with a short stocky build made him a poor man's Sherman Douglas.

I know it's way too early to judge him but at this point he does remind me of Jay Williams. If you look at Roses stats and from what I have seen footage of I don't see a great shooter. I know he will get better in that area but also look at his handles... not great. Sure he's quick as hell and very explosive but is he a real play maker? His assists numbers were nothing special. I know the experts are saying Beasley will have the bigger impact right away and so far that looks about right. Comparing Rose to Paul and Deron is putting big expectations on the kid. I wouldn't put him in that category at all..he's got alot to proove. It will be tough on him if he listen to the media hype if he doesn't make an impact right away. They will be saying that the Bulls made a mistake and should have taken Beasely. He better have tough skin or it will get rough on him.

yeah...but even with DC and the best point guard out of Georgia Tech, where did the Nets go? Nowhere...mainly cause of him and his lousy practice habits...that and an affinity for Armon Giliam..

I don't think Beasley has the attitude problems that Coleman had. Derrick Coleman wore out his welcome everywhere he went.

There are definitely questions about Beasley's attitude. He's avoided criminal proceedings, but some of his actions bring up question marks about his maturity level.

Not to mention it seems like everyone is enthralled with offense. Coleman and Beasley are extremely talented offensive players, but neither were exceptionaly defensively. Too many people love to base "Best ever" on offensive talent alone. Coleman was never gonna be the best PF ever, and I dont know if Beasley will ever be dominant for the same reason.

his time at Cuse should have been a head's up...that team had Seikly, Douglas Coleman and Owens, and still couldn't get the championship...
