Post subject: | Rookie of the Year Already? |
Bulls fans, if you checked out the Sun-Times this morning below John Jackson's postgame recap of the Bulls' latest clunker to a bad team, the John Ratzenberger-looking Mike D'Antoni & his New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, you may have noticed something below the story concerning the NBA Rookie of the Year already being over, according to Bulls' head coach Vinny Del Negro. I don't know if he was sticking up for his rookie or what, but VDN feels that the NBA Rookie of the Year race is already over. Vinny says that the Bulls' very own Derrick Rose should be the league's top rookie. VDN feels that Rose is clearly better than the Grizzlies' O.J. Mayo & the Heat's Michael Beasley among the NBA's top freshman class. Before yesterday's loss at MSG, Vinny said, "There's not even a conversation as far as I'm concerned." He feels that no one's played at the level #1 has played from the start, even though Mayo is the league's top rookie scorer at 19.4 points per game, compared to Rose's 16.8 points per game here in Chicago. While Rose is shooting 45.9% from the field compared to Mayo's 44.5%, Beasley's Heat is where Derrick & O.J. aren't, and that's a playoff team right now. To go one step further, ESPN2's Tim Legler & Jamal Mashburn feel that Rose is the midseason NBA Rookie of the Year, and so does ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard. Isn't Vinny getting a little carried away at this point? |

Maybe they're not as fortunate as you are. Don't you ever consider that these people that you mock have feelings and find this type of behavior offensive? What's a single guy to do? |

at "Luke" Hugh nose these daze. Mayo's got a strong choir behind him but I'm inclined to agree that Rose is doing more with less, a remarkable fact for all the wrong reasons. |

Was there any doubt Derrick Rose was going to win the NBA Rookie of the Year? Hell no! Before the season, writers had the Heat's Michael Beasley, the Grizzlies' O.J. Mayo, and even the Blazers' Greg Oden ahead of #1. Hello McFly?! Oden's NOT EVEN A ROOKIE!!! He missed his rookie season due to microfracture surgery! Earth to NBA Writers... |

Spmack, Silvy mentioned that this morning on "Waddle & Silvy" with guest co-host David Haugh. You've got to be kidding me! This is the same Vecsey whose story about GM John Paxson leaving was taken by Uncle Jerry and others with a grain of salt! Vecsey was so far off target when the story broke around the NBA All-Star Break, and as for VDN, Silvy said the New York Post "writer" gave Vinny a first place Coach of the Year vote. Honest! |

I'm not following the linkage between the two, but this is from NBA.com. The R next to Years Pro stands for Rookie. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/greg_oden ... l?nav=page |

I think John PAxson will quit as GM and sell his house to Jake Peavy. |
