It's hard not to argue with your assessment, Walt. I think Derrick Rose gets a "B" for what I think is a solid rookie season, but the rest of that uneven roster gets an "F" for lack of communication, constant turnovers, and not recognizing what they really have with Derrick. The coaching staff gets a "D" in my opinion, and I've been disappointed that Del Harris & Bernie Bickerstaff haven't been more influential in Vinny Del Negro growing into his role as head coach, which may not be for long. GM John Paxson may have finally got one right with drafting Rose #1, but he gets an "F" for not improving this uneven roster & what appears to be back-to-back flops with Tyrus Thomas & Joakim Noah in the first round of the NBA Draft. Last but not least, even the man who signs the checks, Uncle Jerry, gets an "F" for being cheap and REALLY hiring the current head coach in Del Negro when he could've had Mike D'Antoni, Doug Collins or even Dwane Casey if he opened up the wallet. |

He has a long way to go but so do all rookies. No rookie is ever a finished product. It's not his fault he's filled with a team of mismatched pieces, a coach who was obviously clueless and had no bench experience, and an overpriced veteran that is too dumb to embrace the fact that Derrick Rose could really make him a great player(as could have Lebron James). F's all around, except for the only bright spot this season. |

Coaching staff: F Nice Job Vinny, and extra thanks to Bernie and Del for helping keep control of this circus. Rose: Id give him a B. He has looked great at times, and lost at others. He is much better than I was expecting and still learning. Rest of the guys: D- There have been very few bright spots this season (very few), but they have all been shadowed by a lack of team play, leadership, and downright stupidity. Mid Season Awards Stephon Marbury Award: This goes to Larry Hughes in a landslide. I think he already has the Bulls record for most consecutive DNP-coach's decision by the teams highest paid player. Thanks for your services Larry. I hope you're giving some pointers to Cedric Simmons at the end of the bench of a dreadful team. Maybe you can teach him the art of a proper towel wave, because that will be your only contribution to this team the rest of the time you are here. Oliver Miller Award: It's a 3 way tie between Larry Hughes, Joakim Noah, and Tyrus Thomas. Nobody beats their pregame spread. Just don't share it with the White Panther, you don't to ruin his catlike reflexes. Jack Haley Award: Another landslide this time by Michael Ruffin. At least he has had some time to work on his free throw shooting. |

Ex-Media Guy wrote: And why not? His FG% is better than Rose, Deng, Hughes, Gordon, Thomas, Nocioni, etc. So FG% and other stats are the only way to grade a player? That is just ludicrous. You cannot compare FG% and other stats because they play different positions. Stats only tell a part of the story. |

rose gets a C. he's not any better than he was in game #1. he's getting worse actually. |

It was a point made to refute your poor shot section assertion. While you may feel that way, empirically, his shots go in more often than anyone else (other than Gray and Noah). My point is simply that D- is too low. |

While he has exceeded my expectations offensively, he hasn't performed defensively the way I thought he would. I agree that he seems to be regressing, but that's part of the learning process in the NBA. This kid will be a star in the next year or two. |

It's hard to tell how much he has or hasn't been regressing because, clearly, the team itself has been regressing. This team is flat-out awful right now, whereas at the beginning of the season, they looked like they might be better than I had thought. |

WWN is to Rose what Marriotti is to Reinsdorf. Only grade that matters is Pax getting an F. Not just for this season but damn near every move he's made the past 3 years. I'll pay closer attention to the Bulls when he's gone, as long as he's calling the shots it's to frustrating. |

B&B played a clip from rose which essentially said, "i knew coming into the NBA that we were going to lose a lot of games so it doesn't really bother me." bernsie was all fired up about it. i agree. this guy has no killer instinct. mr. mushmouth eating gummy bears. |
