Nas, I was checking out suntimes.com late this afternoon, and Brian Hanley says that Amare Stoudemire will likely stay in Phoenix barring an offer GM Steve Kerr can't pass up. Besides, the Suns' interim head coach Alvin Gentry wants to open up the offense again, just like what the John Ratzenberger-looking Mike D'Antoni employed before he bolted for New York last summer. Chuck Swirsky, who called Chris Bosh's games for the Toronto Raptors, dropped dime on ESPN Radio 1000 earlier today as well. The radio voice of the Bulls isn't so sure that Bosh is going anywhere either come Thursday's trade deadline. I'm not confident that GM John Paxson will be able to swing the kind of big deal that'll have both sports talk radio stations working overtime come Thursday night & Friday. The only prediction I'll make is that the Bulls will pull a Stephon Marbury and send Larry Hughes home to count all that $$$$ when they learn that they can't get a 12 pack of Bud Light for #32 in white, red & black.

And sadly Bill Simmons is really one of the only national writers who seems to notice this and comment on its stupidity every season. The NBA has to have the worst collective management of any sport. Terry Porter will probably get another job before Thibodeau does.

I am guessing that the Suns putting 140 on the board tonight is going to pretty much cement the fact that Amare is staying with the Suns.

Allegedly from all sources the assistant Gar Foreman is doing all the work right now. Which begs the question, WTF is Paxson doing?

they will find a way to dump hughes but thats about it, which sucks, but whatever. I can't believe it has happened but the nba has been such a thugfest in the last 10 years that i have done what i never thought i would do and that is to watch nascar. A sport where you trade to aquire a piece of shit who probably wont play just to get a contract that will expire is fundamentally wrong. The NFL has a cap and life is good there, so the nba needs to figure it out.

Hanley seems to think a salary-dumping trade is significantly more likely to happen than is a trade to acquire an All-Star caliber player.

I tend to agree...For some reason, Kirk Hinrich & his $11 million salary has somehow attracted interest from teams like Minnesota, says "The SCORE's" David Schuster. If anyone thinks the Bulls will make the kind of move that'll raise eyebrows around the NBA this year, get ready to be disappointed.

When was the last time the Bulls made a trade that was relevant and helped the ball club? Dumping the number 2 pick so we could get Tyrus and Victor Kryhapa? Elton Brand for Chandler and Curry? It always seems like the Bulls are just dumping bad/expiring contracts at the deadline for more bad contracts in return. With Isiah no longer heading the Knicks it seems Paxson has lost his go to trade partner. The only hope for the Bulls is to ride out this Paxson and Vinny mess and hope they can lure Wade to his hometown to play with Rose in 2010.

Well Wallace was one of the salary dumps I was trying to reference in my post and I totally forgot about the Deng move good call but I still have yet to see a trade that has impacted the Bulls in a truly positive way since they traded Olden Polynice for Scottie Pippen

What would the use of it be? The contract expires at the end of the year anyways. If you're not going to use the expiring contract to get a good player, at least don't compound it by picking up another guy with a non-expiring contract who also doesn't help you.

God damn, the trading deadline is a frustrating time for a Bulls fan.

Sorry, my post wasn't clear. Hanley is reporting that the Bulls want to trade Hinrich to Minnesota for expiring deals so they can get rid of his salary for next year and beyond.

I have no problem if every player with a long term deal is traded for expiring contracts.
I have no problem if they get Bosh or Amare.

I have a problem with every other potential deal.

The hot rumor that I heard on B&B and see on the boards is Kings moving Brad Miller and John Salmons to the Bulls for Andres Nocioni and Drew Gooden. Salmons is a decent 2/3 and could probably step in over Luol Deng at the 3. Miller is miller. Miller is signed through the 2010 season. Salmons is signed through 2011 but is paid at a small 5.5M a year.

Well if they can dump Deng, I'm all for it.

Would the only reason to make that trade be to try to get out from under Noc's contract? How many years does he have left on that deal?
