great city, but expensive. i have friends who work there who actually commute from new hampshire because they cant afford to live near the city.

I know it's not for everyone, but I thought New York was fantastic. Philadelphia, while dirty and rough, is interesting for a weekend. Washington DC might be unlivable but it is a must see vacation spot. Southeast cities like Charleston and Savannah are incredibly cool places that seem like they would be fun to live in.
