If Ben Gordon stays, Kirk Hinrich has to go...Keep in mind Luol Deng's big contract and the fact the Bulls don't want to pay the luxury tax... |

First move really has to be trying to get rid of Luol Deng. They HAVE TO move him unless he plans on developing a three point shot and a set of balls. I could see Hinrich being moved as well. Unless Bosh or Amare become available, which I still have my doubts, then I don't believe Tyrus is going anywhere either. And Miller's not going anywhere. They got him because his contract expires for 2010. |

Doug C. sure sounded paternal (re: the Bulls) when calling these games. Wish he would have been at the reins this year. |

I really wish Tyrus Thomas was a smarter player. He has the skills to ave 18-20pts, 12rebs and 2-3 blks a game. Not sure how well he takes advice but he needs a solid vet to help mentor him. I think the Bulls should keep him unless he's in a package deal for an all star big man. As much as I like Ben Gordon his time is up here. His scoring in bunches is great to have but he's a 6'2 SG who can't play D, can't dribble and loses focus and just chucks up shot from anywhere. Kirk should stay. He's the leader of this team and one of the few guys with balls on this team. Luol Deng. I don't know what the fuck happened to this guy. I think his time is up here too but it may be hard to move him due to his contract. Package deal for Big man The Bulls of course need a big man who plays big. Score, rebound, pass and play D. Command double teams and able to kick out. Let's see what the Suns decide to do with Amare Defense was a major flaw this year. The team needs a player who will rip into some of these guys until they get it |

i would LOVE it if they could find anyone to take deng. but that wont happen. i guess next year will be salmons at the 2 and deng at the 3. im also one of the few that would like to see gordon back. but i dont see that happening either. he will go to whatever team will throw the most money at him and i doubt it will be the bulls. i dont really see them making any major moves this offseason. everything looks to be set up for the 2010 class. |

Anyone with half a brain knew this info, except maybe you. Take a break for a while, champ, you're embarrassing yourself. Oh, I forgot the obligatory eye roll icon to make it seem like I know what I'm talking about: There, I put five of them for my awesome level of genius! |

Unfortunately its gonna be tough to move Kirk or Deng because of their bad contracts and teams do not want to take on money with the salary cap going down. Im pretty sure we are stuck with them but obviously if we can Id trade them. I really hope we dont resign Gordon that will virtually guarantee we dont have enough money to spend on a premiere player in 2010. As fun as it is watching him sometimes we just cant afford him, someone will pay him close to what he wants. Vinny will stay unfortunately because nobody in the NBA seems to recognize when teams win in spite of, not because of, their coach. |

jimmypasta wrote: GONE: Heinrich,Gordon,Miller,Thomas Brad Miller isn't going anywhere unless it's to acquire a star player in exchange for a team looking for cap space (rather than sign their own guy to a monster deal). This could happen if a team like Toronto/Phoenix decide to move Bosh/Stoudemire. Otherwise, the Bulls will keep him, allow his contract to expire, and then use the cap space next summer on a free agent. He has one year left on his deal at $13 million (or so). Ben Gordon/Kirk Hinrich is interesting. The common thought is that the Bulls will keep one or the other, but unless they 1) find a team with cap room to take on Kirk Hinrich's deal AND 2) find common ground on a deal with Ben Gordon (remember the previous 2 seasons where Gordon wanted top level superstar money and the Bulls refused to offer more than about $10 million), I don't know that this will materialize. Tyrus Thomas continues to be an enigma. Superstar talent, but a complete moron. He did show a lot of progress this season, but I'm sure there's a lack of patience for his lapses. |

In other words, don't get your hopes up on Deng going anywhere except back in the starting lineup as the SF next season. |

Id be very surprised if he's fired before Vinny. I think Vinny will be fired in the next couple seasons if he doesnt drastically improve as a coach and Pax will get one more chance to find a good coach. |

IMO the question that first has to be addressed is whether or not Pax is coming back. I do not see anyway at all he is fired, but he may choose to step down. If he does, will the guy who replaces him want to bring in his own coach or stick with Vinny? My guess is both Pax and Vinny will be back next year, but you never know. |

I would love for Pax to step down but has there been talk of that? I dont see why he would. Also I would hope the hypothetical new GM would realize Vinny is woefully overmatched and make a replacement. |

There were reports in the middle of the season that Pax was going to step down. First they said it was going to be then and then later some said he was going to step down at the end of the year. So I think it is a possibility. |

I agree with you - Paxson should clarify his position for good, but I'm not worried about this. If he's going to step down from the GM duties, he'll do it well before the draft. |

what you do is make whatever minor trades you can to get stronger, and then next year trade 11 players for d. wade. simple as that. /thread. |

yes, doug collins has such a dynamic resume of championship basketball. what is it everyone loves about him so much as a coach? his .536 career regular season winning percentage, or his .395 playoff winning percentage? his reputation as some kind of brilliant coach and teacher has eclipsed his actual accomplishments as the years have passed by. as a coach, hes just another guy in a fancy suit, with a slice of mental instability on the side. |

He never stays anywhere for long because he burns out, but Collins would have been a better coach than Del Negro. Saying that, as popular as it is to bash Del Negro (and there are lots of good reasons), a Collins coached team would have been going home in Round 1 as well. |

Post subject: | Re: Name your offseason moves for 2009 summer |
I think the first move to be made concerns the future of General Manager John Paxson himself. Although Peter Vecsey may have struck out concerning his story about Pax's future with the team at the start of NBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix last February, this story rears its head again come this summer, as Gar Forman officially takes over for Paxson as V.P. of Basketball Operations with Paxson himself taking over a less-demanding role a little further up the Bulls' front office. As far as the team goes, I think they'll make every effort to try & acquire Chris Bosh from Toronto, but even if Ben Gordon gets too much $$$$ elsewhere to stay here, guys like Tyrus Thomas & Kirk Hinrich will be in demand this offseason. I wouldn't be shocked if Tyrus & Kirk are sent packing... |
