Need some help from the more knowledgeable Bulls fans here.

A friend asked me this:

Who was the better other 3 trio of starters during the title runs? Combined value and talent of all 3 and then each position please.

Grant/Cartwright/Paxson

or

Rodman/Longley/Harper.

If you made it Rodman, Longley and Kerr, then it would be interesting.

It's a matter of personal opinion but for my money, Grant/Cartwright/Paxson was the better trio.

While it's true that Rodman was a great rebounder, Grant had a nice low-post offensive game, was also a good rebounder, and could consistently hit the 10 to 15-foot jumper. Cartwright was a better and tougher one-on-one defender than Longley. Paxson was a better shooter and ball handler than Harper.

And why the hell is your friend asking this question in 2009?

My friend is one of the many who aren't big sports fans who are getting caught up in this series and we began talking about the title years.

I'd probably go with the Grant/Cartwright/Paxson trio. It's close, though.

Grant was a good mid range shooter and one of the top rebounders in the league. Not quite as good as Rodman, but he got the job done and on defense as well. I'd favor Grant here because of his offensive threat, but don't underestimate Rodman's ability to get under a team's skin...and that patented 3pt. shot in the 4th quarter. :)

Cartwright was better then Longley in just about everything, even with bad knees, and Paxson was obviously a better shooter then Harper, but defensive wise Harp wins that hands down.

Of course I was a little brat during those championship years, but I remember quite well.

Rodman was the best of the six but Grant/Cartwright/Paxson were probably the next 2-3-4 as Harp was not nearly the player he was in Cleveland. Kinda close but I gotta go with the first trio, never liked Longley that much.

Thanks everyone.

It's amazing if you think that besides Jordan and Pippen the the 2 groups were completely different.

Of course when you start with Jordan and Pippen you got yourself a pretty good start :).
