I don't see the connection between having MJ in the front office and getting LeBron...

Trading Rip Hamilton for Jerry Stackhouse wasn't exactly a brilliant move either.

The Bulls won 6 championships with Krause. At least he could pull the trigger on trades and brought in players who were complimentary to the Bulls. Paxson is a joke.

Krause is not in any way, shape, or form (okay, maybe not 'form') worse than Paxson as a GM. The very idea is ludicrous.

Also, anyone who doesn't understand that Michael Jordan as a part of your basketball organization isn't demonstrably bad thinking is criminally stupid. :ncool:

While we're at it, maybe Reisndorf should have Ted Williams be the head of the White Sox. :aaargh:

For chrissakes, let the MJ shit go already.

Why should we let the MJ thing go? MJ is the biggest sports icon the city of Chicago has. As sports fans we like to hold on to these heroes and are proud to have them as our own.
Dont get caught up in the Dan Bernstein buzz kill. Enjoy your sports heroes and be proud of them and the team that you root for. I realize that Jordan may not make for a great GM, but having him hang around the UC like the Hawks with their ambassadors, Hull, Makita, Esposito & Savard is good for the franchise, and yes, it may help the Buls land a free agent or 2.

Ha. Gotta love Chicago sports fans. Everybody who isnt good is THE WORST. Isiaih, McHale, Jordan, Chris Wallace, Billy Knight, Billy King, Mike Dunleavy just off the top of my head are significantly worse than Paxson as GMs.

And Joe Dumars might be peeking his head into the team photo with that Iverson deal. Detroit is on a fast track to nowhere.

the chance he took on Sheed and title they ended up winning keep him out of that photo. Oh and knowing exactly when to cut ties with the other Wallace was good too.

I'm not saying don't remember him as a superlative player or don't watch old games and marvel again at what a joy it was to watch him play.

But, no free agent gives a bloody blue shit if Jordan is hanging around ... are you frigging serious?

I can see it now: LeBron thinking "well, I can get back to my hometown area with NY and make all that money in endorsements in the biggest city on the grandest stage, et al ... or I can sign with the Bulls because I might get a chance to say 'hi' to Jordan and maybe get some of his leftovers 'cause God knows I can't get laid on my own ....... get me Reinsdorf's number, stat!!!!".

I'll go ahead and stand by the 'criminally stupid' assertion.
(not personally, though ... you're from the Tri-Cities ... can't be all bad!)

Taking Darko over Anthony, Bosh, Wade, hell even Heinrich....thats a really terrible decision for Dumars.

It was but hard to criticize him when they won the title the following year...if they draft melo they probably dont make the sheed trade

Fair enough but still a bad decision for the franchise long term. I will give it to Dumars over Paxson in at least he knew when to cut ties with Ben Wallace instead of paying him max money.

How can you have Jerry Krause on that list? You have to give him some credit? He did trade for Scottie Pippen.

Yes. Let's see...Olden Polynice or Scottie Pippen? I think the Bulls came out pretty well in that deal.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid, but in my defense It was really early when I wrote that...

I am highly doubtful that MJ has any propensity to spend his own money on something like a basketball franchise. The thought that Lebron is going to grab a pen, and catch an overnight Greyhound bus from Cleveland to Chicago and ask MJ to sign him is misguided. Nice dream though.

Completely agree. But for a 1.7% chance coming through in the lottery Paxson would be the worst GM in the entire league. The contract he gave Deng may very well be the worst contract in the entire league.
