What's more, according to someone in the know, LeBron is viewing the Bulls as a wild card challenger; no other suitor need apply.

That explains why rising restricted free agent Tyrus Thomas, who suffered a forearm fracture in the weight room Friday that required surgery (out six weeks minimum), wasn't given an extension. Chicago definitely believes it has a shot at luring LeBron. As talented as Thomas is, the Bulls secured two excellent rookie forwards -- Brooklyn's Taj Jami Gibson and James Johnson -- in the draft and figure to have roughly $20 million in cap room in case LeBron feels the urge to replicate Air Jordan's Windy City flight plan.

As for the Knicks, guaranteed I could find 11 above-average NBA players who'd love to play for the veteran's minimum or thereabouts (one would command a maximum mid-level exception contract) for the opportunity to suit up alongside LeBron in New York in year one. When Curry and Jared Jeffries come off the cap the summer of 2011, the Knicks would then be able to recruit another certified stud or two and actually be in possession of their own first round draft pick.

To those who don't believe one word of the above or that LeBron would never leave his home state of Ohio, I say, hide and watch.

I think this could happen too. Everyone knows that Lebron wants to build a legacy like Jordan, and he knows it can happen in Chicago.

Can you imagine Scottie's reaction if he gets moved down to 3rd best Bull ever?

And for that reason, selfishly I don't want Lebron here.

If he really wants to build a legacy like Michael's, LJ oughta sign with the Hawks so he can more readily hunt for fat Atlanta strippers.

I'm guessing that #3 and #4 are separated by 1.8 seconds.

Yes! And it counts! They are also separated by the fact that #4 has female genitals.

I've believed all along that Chicago was the most logical destination for Lebron.

I still think New York is where he ends up but the best situation for him is in Chicago.

I think the Clippers are a better spot for him, assuming there's not an actual curse, and also assuming they plan on getting rid of the only coach in the NBA worse than Vinny.

Let me be the second to state that I've thought for over a year that LeBron would end up here. But then I was certain Kobe would too. And perhaps he will. Vinny is gone after this season.

Well, that's not my definition of a wild card...perhaps a dark horse in a sense, but not a wild card...

Am I the only one here who realizes Peter Vecsey is an idiot? He doesnt know shit about the league anymore and is no longer considered a real Insider. He defines the term "throw shit at a wall and see what sticks"

I thought Sam Smith had that trademarked?

Yeah, and he just came up with some ridiculous position that LeBron will go to the Lakers next year. But I think he always subtley admits he's doing it, whereas I think Vecsey takes himself seriously.

I disagree with you, FF. Sam Smith is a moron and knows it; he's looking for column filler 24-7. Peter sometimes gets things right.

I do wonder, if he is serious about looking outside Cleveland after this season, why Chicago wouldn't be in the hunt. It's possible that he wants to be in NY because it'll be where he'll get the most attention and all that, but Chicago is clearly a more talented team, and would be in contention immediately with him.

Also, when did Gibson and Johnson become excellent rookies?

I do think it's more likely we'll be fighting over Joe Johnson than Wade/James.

When he's not busy making up rumors (like his latest that had LeBron going to the Lakers), I do enjoy just reading through the news around the league. Way too often though, he's more interested in playing GM.

Gibson has looked serviceable. This stretch with Tyrus out will show us how good or bad this guy might be.

Johnson has barely got on the floor though. I would not consider him an excellent rookie.
