Jerry is the puppet master and this is the last year of his deal. I can't imagine any free agent wanting to come here unless there is a new coach on the bench next season.

How naive are you? Free agents will go to a team for 2 reasons money and the chance to win a champioship, which the Bulls will have neither to offer!

This 4 game losing streak the Bulls are currently on can't help Vinny Del Negro's chances beyond this season of sticking around as head coach. It's not just the fact the Bulls have lost 4 in a row, but they haven't been that competitive, albeit vs. 4 teams that are clearly better than the Bulls out West in the Lakers, Nuggets, Blazers & Jazz. They can salvage this disappointing "Circus Trip" with a win vs. a Bucks' team that the Michael Chiklis/Brian Hanley-looking Scott Skiles can't fix. If the Bulls don't win Monday night in Milwaukee and take care of business with a bunch of home games, including next Saturday vs. the Raptors on my birthday, then you start wondering about Vinny's future or lack thereof.

Will he make it through the season? If not who is likely to replace him. My money is on Doug Collins.

My guess is that he'll make it through the season, but it's probably questionable at best that he'll be back next season.

He'll finish the year and his contract won't be renewed. The end.

The Bulls will be able to offer as much money as any other team (except for the player's current team) for the top free agents on the market.

The teams in position to throw around money (Knicks and Nets come to mind) aren't winning championships anytime soon either with their current rosters. You can argue that the Heat could make a case if they resign Wade, and add a big piece.

I don't think the current losing streak has anything to do with whether Vinny stays or goes. At best, this is about an average team. They are doing exactly what they should be doing on this Circus Trip - lose to better teams. When they get home, they will probably win a few games, and get back to .500 on the season, and then hover around there for most of the season. That game against Milwaukee isn't as easy as you would think - Jennings is playing great basketball, and the Bucks are actually winning quite a few games early on. I'm not sure they will keep it up, but when you have a star on your team (and Jennings is playing like one), you're going to win some games.

Vinny Del Negro is not a worse coach than Mike Brown.

OKC, Mike Brown's ass should've been sent packin' after the Cleveland LeBrons, I mean Cavaliers, lost to the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals last spring. Mike got outcoached and LeBron was a spoilsport in losing. As for VDN not being a worse coach than Brown, I beg to differ...

Agreed. He isn't going anywhere this season. In the grand scheme of things, this season means nothing. The Bulls will try to court 1-2 big name free agents this offseason, and bring in a new coach before the summer begins. It would take a complete meltdown of this team for Vinny to be sent packing, and all that would happen for the rest of the year would be elevating Bernie Bickerstaff to head coach.

I disagree. I think this season means a lot. None of the big name guys will want to take less money to come here if they don't think the Bulls are in position to win a title. If they suck the way they have the past 4 games it will end up being the same dog and pony show that Krause and company put on in 2000.

You cant really compare this offseason to the one a decade ago. No matter how the Bulls perform the rest of the year, they clearly are a more attractive option right now then back then.

Yeah but you missed the whole point of my post. This Bulls team, no matter what you think of them overall, are very clearly superior to the abomination of a team going into that 2000 Bulls season. It was easy to use excuses such as you did for them not wanting to come here back then, but the fact is when guys like Corey Benjamin are featured guys on your team, I doubt anyone gives a fuck what the temperature is outside. Rose and Noah can already be considered young building blocks that I think LeBron or Wade would love to play with. And both of them might be better than any player either guy has around them currently.

Well the $30M is also with 1 extra year included and you have to assume they'll make that anyway in the long run(or like $5-10M less). He'll also probably make more endorsement money being in Chicago although I'm not even sure of that as he is already world-famous. I agree with you that if guys like you and I see how horrible Vinny is as a coach, I have to assume professional players do also. So yeah, I agree with you that the team needs to show something this season to attract some of the bigger names. But the Catch 22 of that is I dont want them to win close to 50 games and bring Vinny back.

Also remember the Bulls have had the 4th hardest SOS so far this season, and many of those really tough games were on the road. Only the Rockets have a better record then the Bulls out of the top 5 teams with the hardest schedule thus far. I expect the Bulls to come around and still make the playoffs.
