Anyway, you left out the part of mitchell being a horrible coach. Being better than jay triano, the worst defensive coach ever maybe, isn't necessarily a resume headliner. This move would be equivalent to the bears firing lovie and hiring tom cable. |

Hire Sam Mitchell because it may increase the Bulls chances of signing Chris Bosh as a free agent? What happens when he stays in Toronto or leaves for Miami? That would seem to be a tremendous risk. |

I can't get behind hiring a guy because he 'might' have a good relationship with a guy who probably won't wind up here anyway. Granted, his teams were inept, but Mitchell really hasn't shown anything to distinguish himself as a coach. |

Avery Johnson and Byron Scott are the best coaches available right now but they may want some big money and they Bulls aren't too fond of paying alot of money to coaches. Last thing I wanna see on the sidelines/bench is another unproven coach |

I know he wasn't great in the postseason but the Mavs had some of their best years under him. His regular season recored is among the best during his coaching stint. Is he just not saying the right things during the interviews or is he really that bad which I don't think |

I thought the reason Avery was not coaching had more to do with the fact he did not want to give up the paychecks coming from Cuban still. |

no avery tried for the detroit job. He had a really good regular season but he also had a great team. When you take a great team into the playoffs your strengths and weaknesses are exposed. His weaknesses were vastly exposed. Between the finals choke job and the first round loss to the warriors he should never coach again. |

Thibodeaux may end up being a good coach. I just would prefer a coach that has some head coaching experience in the NBA. But I would rather have Thibs over Mitchell I do believe. |

i hear what you're saying on the reluctance to take risks but it's almost a fact that we'll need a new head coach in rose's prime with scott whereas i really believe thibs can be our coach for the next decade. |

No doubt he has been a great assistant coach. But sometimes great assistants are just that, assistants and do not do well as the head guy. |

I think he'll be an excellent head coach Doc actually has a good coaching resume too. He took some very average Magic teams into the playoffs. Doc was also known more for his defense on the court so im not sure he's completely responsible for Boston's D but I'm guessing he has a major hand in it. How did Thibs get the rep he has in the 1st place? |

a good record doesn't equal a good coach. Doc had teams capable of reaching the 2nd round, especially up 3-1, and didn't. Also those magic teams never even mustered a defensive effort. Carrie mentioned thibs defensive resume. Like i said he'll be an excellent coach imo |
