He's a great defensive mind. The Bulls should have had him two years ago. Make this happen - and now. Otherwise we're going to end up with Lawrence Frank.

Why? He is just a guy. Has no track record. They are waiting to see what Phil is thinking. Waiting a couple weeks won't hurt anything. He will likely end up passing on the Hornets to see what the Bulls and Nets have to say.

I think the Bulls were hoping to receive permission to talk with the Celtics' assistant, but I don't think Glenn "Doc" Rivers and Boston management gave "GarPax" a response back. The scoop is Tom Thibodeau has been in talks about becoming the head coach...of the New Orleans Hornets.

They could have talked to him if they wanted to after they beat the Magic.

Pax and Gar are in LA to interview Tom.

Obviously that isn't the only choice. The Bulls probably have the hottest job on the market now. They'll likely get whatever coach they want that is available.

I like that they're going for Thibodeau. Jackson has said that he has no interest in coming back to Chicago, and I believe him. I'm also pretty damned skeptical about our chances of landing LBJ - so there's no need to try to lure Calipari here.

There are conflicting reports concerning whether or not the Bulls indeed interviewed Tom Thibodeau. The Trib's K.C. Johnson says they did, but the Sun-Times says that's not the case. ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports that the New Orleans Hornets want to know TODAY regarding whether Thibodeau will accept that team's head coaching vacancy, hours before the Celtics/Lakers tipoff the NBA Finals TONIGHT at 8p on ABC7HD & ESPN Radio from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. It's widely believed that Thibodeau is the Hornets' leading candidate, but management's patience down there is wearing thin.

In my opinion, the Bulls' next head coach may very well be coaching in this NBA Final. It could be Thibodeau, Celtics' head coach Glenn "Doc" Rivers or possibly Lakers' assistant Brian Shaw, who was mentioned earlier this week on ESPNEWS as a new candidate for the job.

How are the Hornets in any position to make demands?

He already turned down the job.

Douchebag, I'm just the messenger. If Thibodeau says no to the Hornets, I think he says yes to the Bulls. Do you really think Uncle Jerry's going to open up the wallet to land an experienced head coach? I say absolutely not, and I'm less than impressed with the unemployed head coaches around the league that are available.

Yeah, I know, not the best source, but:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Thibodeau

Quote:
he helped the Houston Rockets rank among the Top 5 in the league in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense from 2004 to 2007,[1] and has helped his team finish in the league's Top 10 in team defense 15 times

Quote:
During his tenure with the Knicks, he helped the team set a then-NBA record by holding 33 consecutive opponents under 100 points in the 2000-01 season.

just sayin...

I can't say I'm surprised that Tom Thibodeau has said "thanks, but no thanks" to the New Orleans Hornets' job. He's probably off limits now until the Celtics/Lakers' NBA Finals conclude, one way or the other.

Meanwhile, Jeff Van Gundy, who will work the NBA Finals with Mike Breen, Mark Jackson & sideline reporter Lisa Salters on ESPN/ABC Sports' coverage starting tonight, has said no to the New Jersey Nets' vacancy.

Looks like he will be the next coach. They're supposed to offer him a deal this weekend.

The more I read and hear about him the more I like him. Thankfully he has a ton of experience on an NBA bench and that is a real good thing, unlike our last coach.

He and LeBron are both represented by the same agency too. I don't think it's a bad hire but I would have tried to wait to see what Phil's thought process was.

Actually the conflicting article was b your friend Jim O'Donnell. John Jackson took the follow-up where they acted like they never questioned the Thibodeau interview.

Tribune claims he's accepted the Bulls' offer. YES!

This should have happened two years ago.

Agree this should have happen 2 years ago. Now, I think it's the wrong time. If you want to lure the big time players, and convince them you're ready to win a title, you hire someone like Phil, Van Gundy, or somehow Doc.
