Worked out well that they had to play without him - now, if he can be ready, he comes in and is like their Nitrous Oxide tank to kick them into overdrive.

I agree that they'll be a lot better when he comes back, as he'll take the load off Noah's shoulders and his presence will help settle the rotation. However, this is not close to a 60-win team. They still need a pure, honest-to-God, scoring 2-guard. Bogans is shit. C.J. Watson is being forced to play point (and he hasn't shot very well so far). Brewer is not a scorer. It would've helped immensely if they could've grabbed Mike Miller in July.

And regarding the 72 win record: As an NBA fan, I like seeing milestones broken. It'll probably never be done again, but I wouldn't be upset if a team were good enough to do it. It might be my own personal bias, but the 72-win team was not my favorite Bulls championship team so I probably don't hold the same opinion as most other Bulls fans.

As long as the record is not broken by the Heat this season, which appears
next to impossible, I am ok with someone doing it. Only thing that matters is
the playoffs and winning it all when the smoke clears.

This team will improve simply because their current second unit is crap but the addition of Taj Gibson to it will stop 5 point leads turning into 8 point defecits. Taj has played way above his head so far this year and will continue good production against other second units.

Kobe and the Lakers are not going to come close to the 72 win mark.

Yeah, there is definitely a major hole at the 2. Bogans is serviceable, but should not be starting in this league. Brewer and Korver have both been major disappointments this year. If only the Magic didn't match the Bulls offer on Reddick. Alot of people have been ripping C.J. Watson so far this year, but he looks like Magic Johnson out there compared to the Jannero Pargo shitfest that the Bulls had to play last year.

I'll give you that. I forgot about the whole Pargo "thing" last year.

BTW, Johnny Fishticks isn't sounding too bad right now either.

Brewer will improve as the year goes on, but this will never have a true 2 guard with the current roster. Their 2 guard will have to be a defensive stopper that will get you 8-10 ppg a night - he's not going to be a scorer. Brewer can do that and his game is starting to look better of late. I think he'll be the starter by the break.

Johnson's problem is that he is looking for his shot too much. He's not Kyle Korver who is an established shooter. He's 2 for his last 11 and the more glaring stat - has taken 11 shots in 25 minutes of playing time. Talk about jacking up shots. That will earn you the dog house very fast. He's going to be that 10th/11th man this year that will have a flash or two of brilliance followed by several DNP-CD on his record.

The problem with James Johnson is that his style of play on the offensive end is just completely out of control. He's a huge guy, but when he drives to the basket he just barrels into people and causes alot of turnovers, or offensive fouls. He cannot create his own shot, and I think he put himself in the doghouse again during the Boston game. He took about 3 or 4 really "tough" shots in a row in the 2nd quarter of that game. If I was Thibs, I would have sat him down also. I think he could be a defensive stopper in this league someday, but his offensive game is just way too erratic.

I agree. The games in which he was good, he was flying in, boarding dynamically, and doing putbacks of misses and put-ins of well-executed passes.

As DB mentioned so much better than me, a player like James Johnson should not be doing 'heat checks'

JJ is a less athletic version of Tyrus Thomas. He is more interested in himself than the team. If he would play to his strengths he could be a nice piece on this team, but I have no confidence that he can begin to do that.

I think one of the very under-rated parts of what Boozer brings when he comes back is improvement in the floor spacing.

He has a legitimate post-up game that has to be respected, which (in theory) should open up the mid-range and 3-point opportunities for Deng and Korver, and to a lesser extent Rose. Noah and Gibson have both played really well, but neither is a true threat on the blocks that is going to force the double team when the ball is in their hands, unlike with Boozer.

I believe Brewer will be more than a capable starting 2 when he is fully healthy and gets used to the system. He doesn't need to score 17 points a game, but he is extremely athletic and an excellent defender. Between the fast breaks and pick and rolls he will be a very good part of the team. It also helps that he has played with Boozer, and I'm sure there will be some chemistry there. (I also believe Korver will find himself open for more shots because of it as well.)

I actually think this too. As long as you do not ask Brewer to shoot the lights out....and thats what you have Korver for anyway I think he will be a servicable starter. He is long and athletic and seems to attack the hoop fairly well. Obviously he is not a great number 2 but if Deng can progress into an actual scoring threat you can live with Brewer at the 2 and Bogans coming off the bench. CJ watson isn't very good though.

even with Carlos it's a 48 win team at best...and that's with playing in a weak conference

people forget that Boozer was an average talent with Cleveland and Utah doesnt seem to miss him

he is an average talent and he's not very tall, but he compensates for it with great effort...so yea, he can make a small difference but that's it

Gar Forman's a bully for running Tyrus Thomas out of town.

Whistler, it's obvious that you don't watch the NBA so...yeah, maybe you should just stop having NBA thoughts altogether because you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Okay?

Utah doesnt' miss him because they went out and got Al Jefferson to play in the post and finally opened a role for Paul Millsaps - who has had an incredible week this week. If you don't think Boozer wasn't a talent in both Utah and Clevleand, I don't know what game your watching.

I disagree. A good defender at the two with Rose is more important than and average defender that can score. Rose's increased scoring changes a lot of things. Still to early to tell how good Bogans is on Defense. He seems to double team well and play the passing lanes but not sure about his one on one defense.

Been working a lot lately so help me out here. Since Noah just signed, can he be traded? I read somewhere he cant. If thats true and the trade lines are still open, Rose and Boozer and Melo and Noah on the same court would be unbelievable. I' m not smart enough to know how that would get done with Deng and Gibson and anyone else they want but I got a stiffy thinkin about it. But Melo for Noah I'd still do if thats possible.

I believe that outside free agents (Boozer, Korver, Brewer etc.) can not be traded for a period of time which is around December. There is no such restriction on a teams own players whom have been restructured, as per Noah.

Noah is now a "base year" player making him nearly impossible to trade this season (same as Hinrich was after he signed and everyone wanted him gone).
