In two games Derrick Rose has been to the line enough to attempt 34 free throws. Many of those fouls come as a result of Rose taking it to the rack, only to be met by a scrappy big underneath. Furthermore, many of those fouls were "hard" fouls; going for the body more than attempting to block the shot.

Do we see this as a continuing trend in not only this series, but also any in the future?

That only works with a bad free throw shooter or a soft player. Rose is neither.

The free throw attempts will probably remain between 10-20 for the whole playoffs, but the beating Rose is taking will only get worse.

While I agree with you, Rose is also a high-flyer and is one bad foul or a wrong landing away from this board talking more about baseball.

+1

Extremely nerve-racking to have Rose expend this much energy for round 1 of the playoffs. I share your concerns.

By the way, I'm not really sure what Thibs' offensive game plan is thusfar in the series. I mean; it appears that we want to work the ball inside, however the Bulls appear to be doing it backwards. Whenever Boozer or Gibson get an interior feed, they are taking a step back and firing up a mid-range jumper At the same time, our guards are driving more and attempting more floaters and whatnot.

Get out of my head!!! Yeah I agree, Thibs def looks more like a defensive coach who's never coached offense before.

My only comment is most of these fouls through both games have been hard, but clean fouls. Despite what announcers may want you to believe. At one point Stacey King was discussing how Hansbrough did not make an attempt for the ball / a black on a drive...foul committed in the air. They replayed it at least twice, clear as day Hansbrough swipes at the ball, making good contact with the ball as well as the player (Rose?)...it was a good foul. But no, Stacey King called it a dirty play. It was a pathetic display of homerism.

There are major differences between a clean/hard foul and a dirty foul. A "clean" foul, from my understanding, is when the player not only makes an attempt at blocking the shot, but he does so in a manner that causes a great deal of contact; blocking the shot is the primary focus. A "dirty" foul is when that primary focus is the contact itself which includes throwing/forcing the player to the ground; the blocked shot is secondary.

On at least two occasions that I saw, Hansbrough was committing a dirty foul.

I too am worried that our best player will get injured. I'm sure a guy in Miami is concerned about Wade's injuries and a guy in Los Angeles is worried that Kobe will get injured.

They aren't even hard fouls. They are just playoff fouls rather than the regular season where most players are not willing to risk an injury to a friend so they can stop 2 points in a game that matters very little.

Hansborough is a total bum. He looks completely diagnosable and scared on the court. I think last night was the first time an entire crowd had booed him since the games played at Duke.

I can't get over how scared for his life he looked.

I don't know either guy, but I would bet that Rose and Hansbrough don't hang out much.

Agreed. I'm not even sure if they're really playoff fouls.

Where you been Hova? We need you in the NBA playoffs section. Whether it's to frustrate me with another worthwhile debate, or just to comment on games, you need to post more. Unless you got children. Then all is forgiven.

The offense is being stifled by turnovers and the fact that 2/5th of the starting line-up presents no scoring threat whatsoever. If Luol doesn't hit shots early the offense just stagnates.

At least the Pistons had talented players when the "Bad Boys" thugged it up against the Celtics, Lakers and Bulls....the Pacers are the Great White Dopes!

With the way Rose shoots from the perimeter, he better get to the line even if he has to risk life and limb.

Yeah, I'm glad to see someone else besides me saying "The King has no clothes"

As far as hacking goes,it's a 2-way street for the next team that tries it. Everybody has a guy they don't want to see hammered. They come with a knife, you bring a gun.
