I'll take:

3). Starks over Jordan & Grant in that SICK left-handed baseline dunk (1993 Playoffs)
2). Pippen over Ewing (1994 Playoffs)
1). little Kevin Johnson SKYING over Hakeem Olajuwon (1994 Playoffs)

Vince Carter jumping over that 7' Frenchman was pretty gross.

Or when he hung on the rim by his elbow...sick!

Carter might be the best dunker at his height in the history of the league. Certainly the best in the last 10 years.

The most impressive dunk in game is Carter's over the 7 footer...in the dunk competition it's any Jason Richardson winners.

Didn't T-mac T-bag a 7 footer once upon a time?

I think I was too young, but sometimes see the MJ pics of him giving Dikembe the finger wave, that's classic.

Nah, she wasn't that tall.

Anyone remember way back when Tom Chambers was on either the Suns or the Supersonicks taking off about 2 feet inside the free throw line off of two feet and literally jumping over a random guard while throwing it down. That would definitely make the top 5.

Post subject:

Yeah but I never counted Chambers because he was like 6'10. I think you have to be 6'7 or under to qualify for the best dunk. That's why Sean Kemp and Orlando Woolridge never qualified for me at least.

Post subject:

Right. But I'm talking about the 6'10 guys that can jump obviously. Usually what makes great dunks is going over a power forward or center. If a 6'10 guy does that then it's an even match so that disqualifies him in my book.

Greatest Dunks -

86' Spud Webb dunk contest

Jordon over Ewing - not only did he dunk on Ewing, but he made two defenders miss and then dunked on Patrick!

Shaq (early years) The only guy to have "shattering glass" as his trademark dunk.

88' Dunk contest - Jordan vs Wilkins. I still get goosebumps watching the highlights.

91' Dunk contest - Dee Brown no look dunk. Remember "the pump" nike?

Vince Carter - 360 dunk, Behind the basket, Elbow around the rim are all great dunks, but my ALL TIME favorite is when he jumped COMPLETELY over the poor white boy from France in the Olympics.

T-Mac -Ally pass to himself off the backboard dunk.

I love any dunk over Ewing.

KJ over the Dream should be on the list.

Most people talk about Jordan's dunks post 91. Alot of them were playoffs and easily remembered. But his greatest dunks were from 84-89. Not a shocking statement because those were his early 20's. I remember one. I'm sure many of you have seen it on those highlight videos.

It must have been 86 or 87 at the Omni against the Hawks. He's at the middle of the court just beyond the 3 point line. They send a double team at him. He goes behind the back and splits the double team lighting quick. Then the center and power forward converge about 5 feet from the basket to cut him off. He hops over them for the two handed dunk. Two handed! You know how tough that is. Best one I've ever seen. Not only the dunk but what he had to do to get that dunk. Nobody could ever do what he did there. Not Kobe or Lebron.

Good point Bear. Lots of people forget what Jordan was able to do to create the dunk. Poster dunks are nice, but seeing how he got that dunk is even sweeter.

I still think Vince, with two good legs, was more exciting dunk-wise than MJ.

I agree Dominique beat Jordan in the 88 dunk contest in Chicago. But for greatest dunks of all time I don't count contests.

-- They have to be in real games

-- They have to be from the half court set. Break aways don't count.

-- Player must be 6'7 or below

-- Ali oops don't count either

Why did Mike and Dominque only have like 2 dunks in the top 50?

Exactly I think Kevin Johnson had more than MJ and Dom combined (although KJs were pretty sweet)
