Bagels won't approve of this. That being said, I hope this is a VERY bad sports weekend for, as David Kaplan used to call it, "The Armpit of the South". |

even tho i know seeing "sinicalypse" as the last post in a given thread is enough to turn ~33-50% of CSFMBers to avoid the thread like the plague (someday, i'll regain my rightful throne earned over @ forum.watmm.com as "threadkilla!") i gotta pop in here and break of some of that ol real: this game is my first legitimate worry of the season. sure, the warriors shot pretty well monta ellis went off stephen curry did fine and the bulls didn't shot too hot the warriors' world-reknown-defense worked out, and the bulls turned over the ball some 47000 times so much like last year, they lost a game by ~10 points @ 99-91 (i wanna say last year's was like 110-99 or something) HOWEVER this hawks team has provided the first legitimate scare of the year... in the first atl/chi game @ the UC atlanta came out and played spirited defense, no doubt giving their coach a hardon that would be serviced by one of the many fine, fine escorts that THEEE A-T-L has to offer.... however, in the end the popular consensus (read: what danny burn-STINE told me. i listen to b&b so they can tell me what to think, you know) was that atlanta ran out of gas, and after ~2+ if not 3 whole quarters of shoving it up the bulls' giggy (remember, ythe bulls didnt crack 30pts b4 halftime) the bulls "turned it on" in the fourth quarter and eventually overtook the hawks for a 76-73 lead. i confess that i was indeed out tonight, so i only caught something like ~5 minutes of the game in the early/ish 4th quarter when the bulls were down either 14 or 17 and it just didn't look good... whilst the final score 109-94 speaks of a dualism where their offense was just OK and their defense was bad, still, the fact that atlanta was able to thwart any potential spirited bulls run (cuz i'm going to go out and guess they had 1-2 of them in the mid-/late 3rd and in the 4th) and hold out for a 15 win seems to be just what the bulls did last night, however detroit had gotten the lead all the way down to ~3pts near the end of the 3rd quarter so the bulls did have to work back up to win by ~15. as david schuster condescendingly pointed out during a 12am BULLS HIT on DAS GROBBER'S overnight babysitting service after the FIRST atl game a few days ago, atlanta played some spirited and thusly high-quality defense on the bulls for the first three quarters, crediting their coach whatshishface..... however, after a quick chuckle that would make hub arkush dial up one of his lawyers and saw if he had a plagiarism suit on his hands for some grade-A biting---- schuster rode a wave of bitter/esque sardonic righteousness by decreeing "well they put out that effort tonight, but let's see if they're still listening to the coach at game 40" with, of course, the inference being that they wouldn't be and therefore this game was an abherration and a fluke. so even the results weren't quite as !!!! as they were in a 76-73 loss to the bulls, i would conjecture to guess that they played their defense where they double the shit out of derrick and then focus on making speedier rotations in order to effectively neutralize the bulls offense... and let's check the records: Derrick Rose 8 PT 3-10 FG 2-2 FT 0-3 3P 4/1 RB 6 AS 0 BL 1 ST 5 TO 0 PF 28 MN (Final, Hawks) SO YOU DO THE MATCH! the bulls' unequivocal point guard AND #1 scorer (seriously, my kingdom for a guy who can drop 25+ like it aint no thing without being a complete and utter defensive liability) ended up going 3-10, only getting to the line once (presumably) and while he did have 6 assists he offset them by 5 turnovers.... all in all, i doubt any bulls fans in attendance tonight were chanting MVP. the team as a whole? glad you didnt ask Chicago Bulls 94 PT 36-82 FG (.439) 16-20 FT (.800) 6-14 3P (.429) 43/17 RB 21 AS 5 BL 8 ST 19 TO 9 PF (Final, Hawks) and then a few more principals (with my commentary too) Richard Hamilton 14 PT 5-9 FG 3-3 FT 1-1 3P 3/0 RB 5 AS 0 BL 0 ST 3 TO 2 PF 31 MN (1/4, Pistons) --- solid. this is about what i expect for rip... shoot in the upper 40%s, if not 50%+ (a dream of mine) cuz if he does he'll be averaging closer to 20ppg than 14, which immensely helps the bulls. Luol Deng 8 PT 4-13 FG 0-0 FT 0-0 3P 3/1 RB 2 AS 1 BL 1 ST 3 TO 0 PF 29 MN (Final, Hawks) ----- LOL DENG!@!!$##@ #basketball had a crusty ol op who got sick of two bulls cheerleaders (one from NY, the other from NC) lambasting me as being a bad fan who is "fake a fuck" cuz i call the guy LOL deng. ever seen LOL do his "my turn" iso from the top of the key? it's fucking hilarious... i legitimately laugh out loud... he oft loses the ball in 2-3 dribbles, and if he doesnt his best move is flailing to the lane and hoping he gets hacked by someone so he can get to the FT line.... but a post game? a pull-up-from-the-dribble-jumper? raw athleticism? or better yet, even tho SURE HE HAD ****ONE***** nice big 3 to put them ahead of atl late a few days back or something, but comeon, if you watch the dung he seems to miss ~60-80% of those shots he gets when derrick and co space the floor out nicely and run a play get gets LOL fucking SET from midrange. Carlos Boozer 12 PT 6-11 FG 0-0 FT 0-0 3P 5/3 RB 0 AS 0 BL 0 ST 3 TO 2 PF 21 MN (Final, Hawks) -- ho-hum. idk what his main defensive responsibility gave up (as it usually breaks even or goes in their favor) but ideally you'd get 18/8 from carlos... or, dare i get greedy and ask for 24/12 or something? Kyle Korver 13 PT 3-8 FG 4-5 FT 3-5 3P 3/0 RB 5 AS 0 BL 2 ST 2 TO 3 PF 35 MN (Final, Hawks) --- now here's another guy that pisses me off... korver. it seems like most times that he doesnt hit those big wide open rhythm-3s when you figure it's set up for him on a golden platter, and i remember last year when they ran screens for him to curl the corner and pop 2pt baskets to get his swerve back. 3-8FG and 3-53P is meh... the 3-53P you take, but 0-3 from 2pt land? he got to the line 5 times which is aminor miracle... and 5 assists? HE'S YOUR MVB OF THE NIGHT, FAMN1!!!! Joakim Noah 1 PT 0-4 FG 1-2 FT 0-0 3P 4/1 RB 0 AS 1 BL 0 ST 2 TO 1 PF 17 MN (Final, Hawks) --- let's be real here, folks: while joakim is certainly better than tyson chandler (mainly seeing as he can use his hands without cp3, or especially seeing as tyson's $$$$ is god-awful for awhile.... 4/58 or something?! yikes. joakim's $$$ is bad but not bad.... BUT HEY, it wasnt a bad game for joakim... i consider a positive game for joakim where he ends up having more points than personal fouls... cuz mark my words, there will be something like ~7-10/+ games this year where joakim ends up with more PFs than points. c'est la vie. Ronnie Brewer 3 PT 1-2 FG 0-0 FT 1-1 3P 2/1 RB 3 AS 0 BL 0 ST 1 TO 0 PF 19 MN (Final, Hawks) NOOOOO!!!!!!!! he was supposed to be the super insurance policy for rip hamilton's somewhat-aging-arse, plus thibbs said in the trib today (or well, saturday) that he wanted brewer to work on his outside shot, and indeed, brewer has 5 3pt baskets this season whereas he had 6 all of last year... the first 2-3, if not evne 4 or very unlikely 5; games he seemed to be finding a pretty solid rhythm... i aint gonna lie, his jumper is ugly as shit and i don;'t trust it implicitly when i see him fire up a shot... but otherwise, day0m son, he picked an odd night to fall off... granted rip got 31min and ronnie 19, still, you ideally wanna see more than 3pt 3ast 2RB in 19 mins... you'd love to see him with ~8pts, 3ast, 6RBs in those 19 mins, therefore he if he played his ~35 mins like a premier NBA starter you're talking about something like ~14-15/5ast/10RBs which would be PROPER, a double double off the bench... from your guard! so yeah, while i confess i'll have to catch a replay on the package this morning to see how it goes down, its certainly disparaging to have a "letdown game" after you handled orlando most/all first half, let them get it within 3 lat ein the 3rd, but then close out and go win by ~14-15. overall, imma cop some bezzian steez and be like "the bulls will be fine... boozer will be fine... they're right where they need to be" blah. i just hope that like, if there's ever a chance to get a nice non-knicks-getting-carmelo-3-days-before-the-deadline-even-tho-melo-only-wanted-to-go-there deal where the bulls don't have to give up to 50-66% of their roster to get another bonafide super/star (cuz let's be real real real real for real here, family, ideally you'd love to have, say, kevin durant on the team droppin 25-30 from the 3/4 position and thus allowing derrick to focus on his all-around-game (read: the facilitator/point-guard rule) and take less hard spills cuz he's the only one on the team who can consistently drive in hard and draw a foul (i'd say LOLDENG can but he can also likely lose the ball after 2-3 dribbles or just end up flailing towards the basket tossing up a hopeless shot i nthe hopes of inducing contact..... AND WE'VE GET HIM TIL 2014 WOOOOO YESSSS!!!! so yeah wow cliffs notes, forgive the analysis... it means nothing to you. someone go please make a succinct-twitter-ready observation in 140 chars or less so RFDC can go and quickly become the next post who quotes the guy directly above him (in case we forgot) and offer a one-liner of affirmation or "scathing rebuttal" towards whatever it is you said. anyways, there seems to be an odd confluence of odd-unmarked-cop-looking-cars outside of my house... one kind of crepy by when i was smoking @ 3:40am sippin a 40 and leavign a VM message, the nit turned around and parked, seemingly staring at me... then it pulled up a little past my hosue by the next house where there's another one of cars sitting there and now they're talking. definitely creepy.... certialnlyu, i hope i've eaten my wheaties, eh? TL;DR MASSIVE!!! PROPS TO IKESOUTH THE REALEST MALTY-FLAVOURED DUDE ON THE BOARD! obviously, i know this season is quite early.... for all intents and purposes we're still in the preseaso nfor another week or so.... people gotta find their augmented/evolved/changed roles on new teams and/or around new-teammates and the bulls gotta take that inventory of what they've got and then figure out how to best utilize that in their offense... and we know thibbs will do that, see the aforementioned screens for korver to get easy 2pt shots from short-midrange hoping it'd give him "confidence" and a "stroke" to go nail the threes we signed him here to create. 3-5 isn't bad at all, so i hope he can build on that. otherwise, shit.... does atlanta have our # this year? is this new coach some hybrid fusion of bruce bowen, tom thibodeau, and bill russell? are they SERIOUSLY going to grind and hustle to throw out a lot of doubleteams and play wisely enough to keep non-money-shooters out in the mid-range or beyond thus allowing them to be able to roll over for help defense and, example, get the bulls off of their game for 3/4 of game 1 and, well, evidently long/decently-enough to win game 2 by some odd ~15 points. hopefully something hasn't been exposed here, and we can claim back to back games right before another game makes it a back to back to back situation... we can claim a ~1week-or-less training camp, and all the cancellations of morning shootarounds.... but let's be real here: have the atlanta hawks come up with a blueprint to essentially shut down the chicago bulls offense? lord knows ithe heat did... it went something like "ok hey, let's put lebron on derrick and then after the series we'll send derrick a "get well soon" card attached to a bouquet of roses. again, if anyone reads through all of this and feels up to some proper bonafide SPORTS CONVERSATION and feels like telling me that what we saw tonight was a blip on the radar, or as |

Help me out here Basketball sages. When teams collapse on Rose, is the responsibility on him to run out of it before its too late or is it on his teammates to see the trap coming, then make a move to receive a pass from him or to set a screen for him on one of the defenders to get him (Rose) out of it? Thanks. |
