Anyone know any updates? I dont get local Chicago TV other than Comcast and I've worked a lot lately. Hows the groin? He has nice suits but he should wear the mask all of the time IMO.

Big.

Hopefully he rests until the last week of the regular season.

Rumored to be back after the All-Star Break. They're just talking it slow since he has come back twice now, and got re-injured both times.

No shit, Ike.

Is he even on the squad? He makes Wood and Prior look like Lou Gehrig.

They don't need him now. Making sure he is healthy for the playoffs is the most important thing.

Post subject:  Re: Rip???

I think they do need him. Just like with Jordan in the early years when he didnt get any help scoring, Rose needs some help. He goes to hole too often when the Bulls need a basket. HE's tough but its a gamble especially when he does it so often. Hamilton scoring 15 a night takes that much more pressure off of Derrick and can maybe allow him to cruise (rest) a little on the court keeping fresh down the stretch. Derrick is fun to watch but all of the great ones (Kobe, MJ) learn to pick their spots.

How Rip do last night? 5 pts in limited mins but did he look good?

He looked lost and out of shape. The entire team played sloppy though.

Obviously with no training camp, and limited games, he still has some work to do. He just needs to stay healthy the rest of the season so he's ready for the playoffs.

so he can be rusty, out of shape and lost in the playoffs!

You see Armon Gilliam on the Nets bench still rockin a Kid and Play High Top Fade, and this was 96 when it was played out.

He's a "gametime decision", but should he play tonight in San Antonio, Bulls' head coach Tom Thibodeau won't play Rip more than 20 minutes max.

No moment of silence for Armen Gilliam?

Yinka Dare' does not like this.

He looked terrible again last night. 1 for 8, and just bad on other parts of his game.

Ronnie Brewer has looked great in Rip's absence and was a huge factor in last night's win.

He missed a lot of games. Give him a few more and see what is what before you want Brewer to take over the starting spot.

Yeah, I know.

It was just funny last night that the only points where the Bulls looked bad were when Boozer and Hamilton were on the floor. Hopefully that's not an omen for the playoffs.

About a month ago I conceded the fact that win or lose, success or failure, Rip Hamilton's presence will be completely incidental. It's fine. They took a gamble on a 34 year old former star shooting guard, but he's proven that he clearly can't play anymore. That was one of the possibilities going into this. It's no different than if they had signed McGrady in 2010 like so many wanted.

I'm okay with it. Rip had a great career but he's clearly done. So win or lose, it won't be because of Rip Hamilton. Honestly, I'm already looking ahead to next year because the 2-guard problem still hasn't been resolved. Rip is just a slightly more offensive minded Keith Bogans at this point.

They gave him a 2 year deal. He will probably be back next season unless he retires.

Rip Hamilton had just 2 points in just over 15 minutes in last night's 96-89 road win over the Spurs. Bulls' head coach Tom Thibodeau's plan since Rip's return has been to slowly work him back into action. If Rip plays again tomorrow night in Cleveland, I won't be shocked if his minutes remain very limited.

Post subject:  Re: Rip???

He played well at times this year even with that injury he tried playing through. If he's healthy, he's definitely not done. He still requires attention. You cant leave him alone. I cant believe someone compared him to Bogans. No one ever had to guard Bogans. Hamilton knows how to use screens off the ball as well as anyone has. He could score 20+ a night if this team needed it (if healthy).

The Bulls are starting over with Hamilton. If they had no confidence in him he would be getting limited minutes with the bench. Instead he's starting. That tells me Thibs has the confidence that Hamilton will be part of the first team. Brewer has done okay at the TWO but Thibs inserting Hamilton in the starting line-up even in limited minutes tells me he's not done. The more his minutes go up, the better he will be.

Why are you looking forward to next year when they are title contenders this year?

Because the team as constructed won't beat Miami. I thought it was obvious that I was saying that.

Seems like a silly thing to be absolutist about. They definitely can beat Miami.

And if you dont think the roster can beat Miami as constructed than you shouldn't be looking forward to next season either. It'll likely be a very similar roster.

Post subject:  Re: Rip???

I agree but that doesnt mean you shouldnt try. If Rose gets help down the stretch in games instead of one on five, they can beat Miami. Was last years Mavs much better than these Bulls? The Mavs had lots of scoring options that wore out Miami. Thats how you beat them. Miami is a better team this year though. But the Bulls are better too.

Nonsense. I'm positive you were amongst the majority who said the same thing about Dallas last season.
