Is he more of a regular season coach than a playoff coach? For the 2nd year in a row I'm scratching my head by his inability to make game to game adjustments. Last year I chalked it up to his inexperience being a head coach. This year I'm seeing more of the same. Why leave Asik on the court with Boozer at the end of game 3 when you needed someone that can score and play defense (Taj)? Why leave JL3 on the court in game 3 when he's consistently shown he has problems running the offense? Why was Brewer left on the bench for game 3 when you could have used his defense down the stretch? Why not sit Watson and JL3 and go big? Why leave Korver on the floor in game 4 when he couldn't get open and was a liability on defense? Why put Noah back in the game when it was clear he couldn't go? These decision likely cost the Bulls those games. For whatever reason it appears that Tibbs couldn't see this or he was too stubborn to change. Doug is clearly out coaching Tibbs in a series that was winnable for the Bulls even with the Noah and Rose injuries as well as the disappearance from Deng. Maybe Tibbs is Doug Collins in the late 80's. Good enough to get you there but not good enough for you to win it. |
