Time for D to take Reggie, BJ, Adidas and the rest of his crew to LA where he wants to be. So, for D rose, what will you get? I think LA would give a 1st rounder next year. Not sure if contingent picks can be traded, but will take a 1st rounded in 2015 if they make the lakers make the playoffs in 2014. Just thinking LA because they will overpay for a star...even an injured one...See D Howard Just dont tell me he is untradeable, so what deal would you take? |

There is no package the Lakers could put together that would make me trade Rose. |

Seeing as you need two super stars to win the NBA Championship, it seems silly to trade away the only one they have. It is yet to be determined if a healthy Rose with the Bulls complement of all effort guys and depth could take out a team like Miami. |

For real. Gasol and their next 5 1st round picks? Maybe. |

Maybe they can trade for Jerry Buss' frozen brain to implant into JR. |

I agree on not trading him, but your last sentence was disproved in the 2011 Playoffs. |

As soon as I find a reasonable counter argument, I'll give you one. |

It just isn't the formula that is likely to be successful. |

Going back 20 years, I think there are definitely two, and arguably three, teams that won it all with either one or no "superstars." Spurs - 1999 (arguable) Pistons - 2003 Mavs - 2011 |

IkeSouth wrote: tim duncan and the tall ugly german are stars No doubt, but I meant one or none stars since an argument was made that two are needed. Here's a breakdown I did during an email debate with some friends: Stars: Cannot carry a franchise alone but clearly unique talents (e.g. Melo, Pippen, Pierce) Superstars: Unstoppable, franchise changing beasts Semi-stars: Flawed, but a bit more useful than the average NBA player. A tier below "stars." (e.g. Monta Ellis, Iggy, Joe Johnson) 2012: Heat: James (superstar), Wade, Bosh (stars) 2011: Mavs Dirk (superstar), Terry, Kidd (semi-stars) 2010: Lakers: Kobe (superstar), Bynum, Gasol (stars), Odom (star) 2009: Lakers: Kobe (superstar), Gasol, Odom (star) 2008: Celtics: Allen, Pierce, Garnett (stars) 2007: Spurs: Duncan (superstar), Parker, Ginobli (stars) 2006: Heat: Wade (superstar), Shaq (star) 2005: Spurs: Duncan (superstar), Parker, Ginobli (stars) 2004: Pistons: Billups, R. Wallace (stars), Hamilton (semi-star) 2003: Spurs Duncan (superstar), Parker, Ginobli (stars) 2002: Lakers: Kobe, Shaq (superstars) |

That's all I was saying, you need to have two. It can be done with one, but it is not the usual case. To give up on the only one we have is silly. Everything should be done to acquire another. |

2012 D. Wade is still a "superstar". |

I just dont have him as an untouchable...as many do... But being over a YEAR now...and appears to be no date set to play....if you dont start thinking about it, you are NOT DOING YOUR JOB. If he does just come back as if GOD (AKA ADIDAS) Intervenes, it is really just such a stroke move on his part to allow all these other people to play him like a puppet. And what if he isnt ready next season....are we selling low then? Yes, I know it is a LOW probability....but I am pretty sure I can find the majority of people that said he will play this season. |

I don't know if anyone is considering him to be untouchable for the sake of being untouchable. For me, it's about getting equal or greater value back in a hypothetical trade. Assuming he's healthy, who would bring back equal or greater value in a trade? Irving? Westbrook? I'm with denisdman on this one: find a star to pair with Rose. If GarPax can't figure out how to make the Bulls a legit contender during Rose's current contract, then they should be let go. |

Rose has a large contract and if continues to drive to the hole he may be injured for a good portion of the remaining years on the contract. If you trade him to the Lakers you need to get another team involved. You need one or two good players in return, luxury tax relief and some solid no. 1 picks. If anything Thibs has shown that he is the right coach to win a championship if he can get a couple star players who can defend and score at will. |
