HELL NO. the only way it'd be possible is if jimmy butler and nate robinson both get at least 10FT attempts in the game, like it went down in game 1. as it stands, i'd bet that they don't even combine to get 10 in game 2. without getting that steady infusion of points from the league it's gonna be almost impossible to take out the heat..... and we're not even considering that the league could decide "ok that's enough, the bulls should get one more the series will go 6 and people will be convinced that the bulls have a shot, so our work here is done" and then if the pendulum swings the other way and the heat start getting all of the calls (figure they'd shoot ~35-40 FTs a game to ~20 for the bulls) then yeah, game over.... that's about the extent of the league's influence over games/series/etc.... watch the FT totals. unless #THERETURN is imminent, then all bets are off cuz like, if it's scripted to anoint derrick rose as a superhero then maybe an injury riddled season can give the bulls a chance, and if someone on the heatles gets injured and they're weakened maybe the bulls get a chance to win an injury ravaged title, that is, unless the spurs make it out of the west cuz the spurs are the bulls kryptonite.... they do that grindy tryhard thing just like the bulls do, except they've got a better team and, real talk for real people here DR KEN HIDE THE KIDS >> a better coach. |

Bagels wrote: really pushing that conspiracy thing hard.... lol... you got me. i'm having fun with it, i mean, you can put on your tinfoil hat and call it red-pilling if you want, or you can call it a long-exasperated bulls fan (i started tuning out from watching this team midway through last season cuz i knew where this whole mess was going, save the derrick injury) just throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks. fittingly, of course, i went further in that direction with my edit of the first paragraph of that msg.... cuz like, seriously, i do believe that the NBA isn't above giving a team/game/series a few nudges to help it be as dramatic as possible, and hey, if the end result is that we get more close games at the end and the drama is milked, i'm not even saying it's a bad thing. but yeah, i'm holding out some actual hope for this season that #THERETURN is gonna play out in such a way that derrick "shocks" us all and enters the series at a nigh dramatic time and perhaps leads the bulls to a title and builds his legend / legitimizes his 2011 MVP cuz he's led the bulls to the promised land. the NBA is into starbuilding and since the jordan era they've had a multi-threaded approach to building up regional legions of stars, so i mean, just imagine it if you were writing the script for "the derrick rose story" or something and you wanted to have the most cinematic #THERETURN possible.... yeah i'm daring to think that, cuz like, this is the NBA:WHERE AMAZING HAPPENS.... and don't forget that derrick is here on a 1.9% chance from some ping pong balls popping up in the bulls' favor during the ONE season where they barely missed the playoffs in the last ~5-6 years. just think if boylan had led them to the playoffs and they didn't have a chance to get that ball..... can you even begin to fathom where the bulls would be right now? but yeah, you do have a point and i'll pipe down on the conspiratorial talk and just have the occasional smarmy sarcastic #THERETURN quips.... grab ya popcorn! |

If you view the '02 Lakers-Kings series as fixed, then there's no way the Bulls are winning this series, even if they go up 2-0. |

Boozer will go off for 28 & 15 so his kids will stop asking him why he disappeared in Game 1. |

rogers park bryan wrote: veganfan21 wrote: If you view the '02 Lakers-Kings series as fixed, then there's no way the Bulls are winning this series, even if they go up 2-0. Why is that? Game six of that series, specifically the 27 free throws the Lakers shot in the fourth, has attracted much scrutiny over the past ten years. Interest in game six was revived during the Donaghy scandal as well. Here are a couple of links: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3436401 http://aol.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2 ... ngs-series Obviously Stern did not confirm Donaghy's allegations, so all we have is speculation. But the free throw disparity in game six was so great that it had people who usually pay no attention to conspiracy theories talking about that game's dubious outcome. And it's not the first time we've heard that the league has an interest in having its stars play when the spotlight is on the NBA in May and June. So if you buy any of that, it's tough to see the Bulls eliminating not the Heat, but LeBron James and Dwayne Wade, so Nate Robinson and company can move on. |

By the way, I think if the Bulls lose this series, it will be because the Heat is/are (?) the better team. I just think after Lakers-Kings and Donaghy, it's not unreasonable to speculate about refereeing and other factors that impact results. |
