Can someone explain to me scenarios surrounding this draft pick and when the Bulls will probably choose to use this pick?

Post subject:  Re: The Charlotte 1st Round Pick

So they cannot use it this year because of the spot Charlotte picks. And if they are real bad the next 2 years they won't be able to use it, but in 2016 no matter where the pick is at in the draft they can get it?

Thanks. So more than likely the Bulls will either trade the pick or have whatever pick the Bobcats have in 2016

With the Trey Burke era about to get underway for the Hornets they are still gonna be plenty shitty that the 2016 pick will be a good one

So the Bulls are obligated to assume possession of the pick should Charlotte miraculously stay out of the lottery in 2014 or 2015? Well not out of the lottery but lower than the ranges you listed for both years. The Bulls can't choose what year they assume possession?

 my bad. thanks for the links. Is it too early to judge what kind of draft we are going to see in 16.

IIRC only Rose, Lebron and Durant were recognized as early as juniors or seniors in HS as being perhaps generational talents. All the rest of the guys, Wall, et.al well... there story has yet to be written. So basically (and I am by no means a hoops guru)-- it's too damn early to do anything other than throw darts. I'm talking about only the last 6-10 years or so. Anything beyond that almost crosses over into different "eras" of NBA mythology

That's what I would call "throwing darts"

It's almost a certainty the Bulls will get it in 2016 and have a top 7(at worst pick). There's really no reason to think the Bobcats will improve significantly in the near future. It's a really valuable asset to have.

Very sophisticated algorithm that only an intellectual such as Paxson or Kerr has the ability to comprehend.

Cannot trust a site that does not know to correctly type heights.

So MJ was 6,6

The best part of the whole thing is that all of their picks to date, are very underwhelming.

Kemba Walker, Biyombo, Gilchrist. And Michael is running that organization.

That pick remains gold. :D

Bulls fans should pray Jordan keeps running that team for the next couple years.

Jordan is so fucking proud he can beat the guys on the Bobcats one on one. It never occurs to him that he must be the shittiest GM ever if he really put together a team of guys who can't beat a 50 year old man with bad knees.

Charlotte is just such a cluster.

Look at someone like Kemba Walker. He's going on his 3rd head coach in his first 3 seasons in the league. Everything starts over again for them. And while Kemba in particular improved some last season, he's still a tweener, not a facilitator, makes terrible decisions, and reminds me of Brandon Jennings in many respects. Which isn't a good thing. They're both "Hero Ballers", and not very good at it.

And the Bobcats, soon to be Hornets perimeter game is absurdly abysmal. Between Walker, Henderson and Mullens, they make Brandon Jennings look like Stephen Curry from beyond the three point line.
Walker and Mullens each attempted 4 three pointers last season, and each averaged 32% in doing so. Henderson is a career 27% shooter from beyond the arc. At least Kidd-Gilchrist knows better as he only attempted 9 of them last year, nailing a whopping 22%.

Biyombo remains a very raw project. There's flashes, but there's also flashes of pure suck.

Guys like Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon just hang around and poison the atmosphere.

Did I mention that Mullens for some reason thinks he's Dirk Nowitzki?

Then you throw in the Jordan factor, which has been nothing short of complete disaster for his entire post playing career decision making, and well.......

There's also the whole thing about Charlotte definitely NOT being a destination city for free agents, or high end coaches.

You know damn well that Michael is gonna make another completely awful decision for the next head coach.

Same with the Draft more than likely.

And then on the other hand, should any of these guys somehow manage to breakout and become a superstar, they'll surely force their way off of that God forsaken team in the next couple of years.

Odds are that one of the "names" on that team will suffer a catastrophic injury for at least one of the upcoming seasons, as averages would seem to bear out.

All in all, they seem to have a very bright future.

Now the hope has to be that they're not bad enough next year that they end up with either Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker.

No joke I think Byron Mullens is the worst player in the league.

Way too early for me. Maybe some of the college guys around here would be more on top of that.

You figure a kid has to go to college for at least one year before entering the NBA. So if there's a phenom in that summer of 2016 draft, that will mean the kid was a college freshman for the 2015-16 season. Which would make him a high school senior for the 2014-15 season. And he would be a junior for the 2013-14 season. Which means at the moment, he is a sophomore in high school.

In that case, I hope the Bulls 2016 pick had a scholarship offer from Tim Floyd when he was ten.

Jalil Okafor, welcome back to Chicago after a one year absence...unless bigfan delivers the suitcase and you suddenly choose De Paul

So should the Bulls deal this pick if the Bobcats somehow flirt with .500 near the trading deadline in 2014 or 2015? The possibility of the pick being unlocked in 2016 is what makes it so attractive, right? So if that possibility is threatened by even mediocre Bobcats performance (not entirely unlikely with good coaching, luck, etc.), do you make the deal while the possibility of an unlocked pick still exists?

over the next 3 years, the bobcats will win less then 100 games total.

They're probably going to be called the Hornets next year or the year after, you guys.

Jordan will find some way to fuck it up like he's fucked everything up with that team. He'll get everyone amped up on '90s nostalgia and then just trot them out in Carolina blue and also navy blue.

Also, I thought we weren't allowed to talk about the Charlotte pick.

They absolutely should! Well, they should tinker with it. Rose needs a better sidekick. Boozer + Deng doesn't do anything for me.

The question is whether the Bulls should deal the pick if they think Charlotte will get good with Jefferson.
