deng fired up... dude is a monster out there. he looks healthy

rose clearly being told to stay out of action. hes just dumping it off and sitting back. got one open break though, and he absolutely destroyed everyone to the rim. the guy is definitely back! he cant shoot though. airballed a freethrow. no joke.

I don't mean to be an alarmist but I feel like Rose is lacking elevation. His shot is flat, he misses his free throws short, he's not finishing in the lane.

The quickness is there but I don't think that he's really got the hops just yet.

I'm just sayin'.

I'm glad Stacey pointed out Hibbert tapping Rose on the shoulder when he was setting the blind pick the other night. I don't remember them mentioning it during the game but I really thought that was a class move when I saw it at the time.

rose didnt even try tonight. he was clearly instructed to lay back and just watch the team play in action. there were only a couple oppertunities after other players missed their shots, and i bet he was yelled at for actually trying even there.

you can tell he wants to play but they arent letting him. last game he was mad he got only 5 minutes in the 3rd over the 8 he was told he would get... but last game he was also told to go full speed. they saw what he can do and thats enough. now they can gameplan for game 1.

the only thing we havent seen is shooting. hes definitely the old derrick, but is he an improved derrick we dont know

I haven't seen that yet. He looks like he lacks spring in the legs.

Because I'm just like Derrick Rose, when I'm tired my shots get flat and my free throws and jumpers front iron. Plus his finishes at the rim were slashing, not vertical.

Maybe he's still holding back.

his vertical has gone from 37" before injury to around 41" after. you must not be watching close enough, because you can see the spring in his legs is there. im most worried about his shooting, which he isnt practicing in preseason so far.

I'm watching in between sips of alcohol. I don't know where its been reported that he's jumping higher but I am not seeing it in the games so far. It may be just small sample size but I have not seen him elevate toward the rim and finish. The drives that he's had were slashing across the rim and using the board and he's missed most of those as well.

The few times he's taken it directly at the rim and gotten off a shot, he's missed pretty badly.

As this is just knocking the rust off preseason, I'm only slightly concerned. But, I'd feel better to see him go at the rim and jam it home just once.

Just a couple of these, particularly the third one, and I'll feel just fine -

that guy is still here, dont worry. he hasnt played much yet, but he hasnt lost anything. the vertical claims were his in a recent article.

I meant in the half-court on a drive, not a lazy breakaway.

And, yes, I do believe he will dunk again. I just want to see the same explosiveness on the move as before (such as the clip I linked).

This is going to be a season full of Ugie holding his breath and closing his eyes every time Rose leaves his feet.

Hopefully Rose hangs on the rim for a few minutes.

youre not watching then. he has had a few drives off his own dribble that have destroyed the guys trying to guard him. you dont see them in the highlights because the ball didnt fall in, but that is just rust. he is the fastest guy in the game, still.

I am watching, ike. Those are the drives I'm talking about. He's got the quickness but those drives have been flashing past the rim, not attacking the basket. Plus, those flashing drives are not falling.

I think his finishing skills are rusty and I can't tell if it's because he's not elevating as much as he previously was. My first post stated that I thought he still had the quickness. He's flying by people.

It was a minor concern that I think should just be kept an eye on. I'm not raising red flags all over the place. I'm excited in general with seeing him on the floor and playing all out without concern for his knee.

I was just saying the same thing last night to my friend. I see him exploding past people but he is not finishing at the hoop like he did before he got injured. I'm sure it has a lot to do with rust and this will all be much to do about nothing come the first game. I think he was 1-5 from the free throw line in the 1st half last night.

yea i think you guys are picking it apart too much then. his best plays come when he plays out of his mind, which he hasnt got to do yet. all i (and obviously the bulls) needed to see was that his physical ability is restored, and i think its clear that it is. the rest is mental, and theres no reason he lost any of that. game 1 is going to be a show.

I'm convinced.
