This team can still win without Rose. There is no need for a fire sale and you're only going to get bad players and late 1st round picks. |

I think I agree with you but let me play devil's advocate: 1. Being a middle of the pack eastern conference playoff team is good, I guess not going to win it all but at least they are in the playoffs! However, do you think Jerry will want to be a salary tax repeater for a team that is 52-30 that gets eliminated in the second round by Indiana or Miami? |

They have no other option but to stand pat. What could they possibly do in season? They ain't winning shit. They'll be the 7th or 6th seed cuz the East is shit, but so what? Bounced in the 1st round. |

Post subject: | Re: Stand pat |
If they could miss the playoffs and win the Lottory for the #1 pick that's the best thing, obviously. But Thibs will get these guys to win 40 games and get in the playoffs. Actually, in the East, it might only take 35 wins to get the 8th seed. |

SomeGuy wrote: Win what, exactly? I believe this Bulls team beats Miami last season if they were healthy. Besides the only teams that would trade 1st round picks for the Bulls talent are playoff teams. That means the Bulls are looking at picks in the 20's because those teams will get better. No need for a fire sale. |

Will they or will Jerry clut h the purse strings and let the Bulls make cash in bottom tier basketball hell? |

Im as basketball stupid as they come but I don't know how the Bulls can even consider Rose as part of their future anymore. You can't try and build around him anymore. He's toast. Jaw Breaker said in the other thread that if Rose wasn't weak minded before he sure will be now. No way will he ever be the player he was before this, and even that player wasn't good enough to get it done. They better find a plan B somewhere because this isn't going to happen here with Rose. |

Yeah Rose is just a guy now. You can't count on him. |

I think he's got 4 years left on his Bulls contract. At 18 million a year. So you can't do much with a team if a bad player is taking up that much cap space. |

By the way, I'm still holding out hope it's just an MCL which means 8 weeks at most. |

I was listening to Jonathan Hood, which I usually regret after about 15 minutes because he acts like a petulant douche, and he was saying how stupid people are for saying the Bulls should blow the team up because "How did that work for Washington or Sacramento?" I don't closely follow the NBA, but when in recent memory did either of those teams have a player the caliber of Derek Rose, lose him either through injury or trade, and then blow up the team? He then said "How's it working for Orlando since getting rid of Dwight Howard?" But, how many titles did Orlando win with him? He also said "Do you want to take your chances at being terrible for a few years and then hope the ping-pong ball bounces your way?" Isn't that how they got Derek Rose in the first place? |

Nas wrote: This team can still win without Rose. There is no need for a fire sale and you're only going to get bad players and late 1st round picks. that's the painful part about this.... you know if the bulls don't make the playoffs the NBA will rig them up into the top-5 so they could get a proper running mate for whatever's-left-in-derrick, who's really gonna have to have a come to jesus moment about his game cuz he can't run himself into the ground trying to be mr. everything with two knees improved by the powers of science. you damn well know this team will grind to the 6-8 seed (especially in such a shitty east) and they'll have a #18 pick or something and they'll end up with a role-player-at-best instead of getting into the jabari parker sweepstakes, cuz man if they make the lottery and the NBA takes advantage of the situation to get the bulls the #2 or 3 pick, shit, you got a chance.... altho it's more likely that jabari parker outplays wiggins all season and becomes the consensus #1 pick and therefore idk if the NBA would rig them #1 twice in a row, but i could see them with the #3-5 pick and ending up with a potential franchise-changer. regardless, the silver lining to this cloud is that they should have less desire to keep the band together and let deng/boozer/noah/taj/whoever take a long walk because i think this iteration of THE SUPER TRY HARD BULLS from 2010-2013 has pretty much shot it's wad and done all it could do, cuz even if rose doesnt go out for the season and comes back in 6-8 weeks, man, he was ~34% from the field with another 6/19 night getting him back down towards that 33% shooting mark, which is just bad bad bad bad bad. one way or another you need to get a #1 scoring option / star who derrick can be the robin to their batman, otherwise with derrick playing his heart out til he destroys his body you're just gonna be THE SUPER TRY HARD BULLS out there winning ~60 reg season games and getting a nice seed til you inevitably lose to the heat, slipups notwithstanding. and the bulls have to bite the bullet and do something to try something else around whatever-you've-got-left-in-derrick, cuz you're financially committed to the dude for awhile.... so you midaswell be proactive sellers this year and do everything you can to undermine thibs' desire to have another run like last year and screw up the works. i have 0 faith in the bulls to go get carmelo or something in FA that could realistically change the fate of the franchise, so if the only way you're gonna get a bonafide gamechanger is through the draft, welp, you gotta lose sometime.... why not be now? |

You may as well fire Thibs now. The Bulls will never be bad enough to get a top 3 or 4 pick. He could make the playoffs with any team in the East. |
