Noah may have always been their most valuable player. Whenever he's been healthy the Bulls have been a different team. Considering the Bulls aren't truly rebuilding I would hold onto Noah. In fact I would trade Rose first.

You don't trade the beat center in the league unless Lebron, Durant, or someone on that level is coming in return.

I don't think Rose is tradeable...not because he's so valuable, but because no sane team would take on his contract. Noah is not a person to build around, he's the kind of guy you add to a team to make it better. Holding on to Noah would be like holding on to the Deng-Hinrich-Gordon core on a micro level - it won't get them anywhere.

The Bulls expect to compete for a title next year. I wouldn't trade Noah. I believe there are many teams that would gamble on Rose.

They will have about $19M to get to that level and many assets to trade. I believe they can and will.

You have to hope Rose returns even somewhere close to his elite level. His contract is unmovable, and the Bulls have to be banking on that. They will have a shit load of cap space to work with too.

Though they are a top three market team, they have to operate like a mid-size team in terms of investing a lot in NCAA scouting and astute FA pickups, since they can't rely on being in Chicago meaning much when they go shopping for top-level free agents.

This is a pathetic reality.

I think that's massively overestimating his value. I love the guy, but at the end of the day we're talking about a player whose best offensive asset is making passes that other good centers can't make, mainly because they're preoccupied with scoring, which is something Noah can't do.

Also, this is less about Noah and more about the makeup of a team that has no superstar, assuming Rose is out for the count. I just don't think a limited center at 28 or 29 years old is someone you build around. If the Bulls get lucky, they can field a good team 2-3 years from now, when Noah is in his early 30s with his best days behind him. Sell high.

I realize my thoughts are exaggerating his value, but what can they do? A team with the possibility of scoring the #1 pick is not going to trade for him, because he isn't a franchise player, and the Bulls can't just trade him for some type of expiring contract dump because he is arguably the best center in the league. So what do they do?
