"Hey, remember when your dad was this close to getting canned at Iowa State because he was awful beyond words and you bailed him out by committing to Creighton instead and took him with you? That was great!"

Jeff Hornacek rumors heating up. Non-denial denial.

But the Iowa State gradudate didn't deny the possibility he could land in Ames.

"I can't comment on that," Hornacek said on radio when asked about ISU, according to ArizonaSports.com. "I'm the coach of the Suns. It's an interesting coaching carousel that goes on around the league and even down to the college level. So, if those things ever come about and the timing was right, yes. But as far as I know I'm the coach of the Suns."

Iowa State should be a top-10 team next season regardless of the coach. The Cyclones return three All-Big-12 players in Monte Morris, Georges Niang, and Jameel McKay.

He looks like a guy Paxon can control. Then again, so did Vinny.

Um, McBuckets looks like he has beer gut.

Maybe he should get in shape if he wants minutes.

I agree but there seem to be rumors that they weren't happy with him in Pho.

great hire. this guy is going to be an adrenaline shot for this team. no nba experience necessary, these players know what to do. they just want to have fun doing it.

Plus he'll get along with the office staff.

That's important.

Could be a good hire. Seems like a fit for the "modern" NBA.

Nothing says respect like being the first player in NBA history to lead the league in three-point shooting percentage and not be invited to the three-point shooting competition in that season's All-Star event.

If you could go after any college coach for your NBA team, would Fred be top 10?

Nope. He's had some moderate success but hasn't won squat. This whole thing seems eerily reminiscent of Phil Jackson being run out to make room for Tim Floyd. Mully and Hanley made the point today that Billy Donovan is not a sure thing with OKC, and he's won two national championships.

I think that is a complex question as qualities that are driving some college coaches to success (like recruiting) will not transfer to the pro game. Top 10 coaches in terms of college success would not be guys in my top 10 to be pro coaches.

A healthy Cleveland team, especially if they keep Tristan Thompson, will remain the class of the conference for at least 2 more years.

Let's see if they can get a top notch proven defensive coach to add to the staff. This will say a lot about how the front office is viewed in the league.

dude played 10 years in the NBA & front office work for TWolves. Good college success. he's got the perfect resume. not that that means jack squat.
