Hoiball is 3-0 in the last three games, with 88 total assists combined. Is long time guy right? Is Butler just a good stats on a bad team guy and a ball-stopper? It's possible. |

What about Rose? Does the opponents matter? |

Nas wrote: What about Rose? Does the opponents matter? 88 assists in 3 games is really good against any opponent. But it's only 3 games, so I'm not even close to ready to say it's a trend or anything meaningful has changed. |

If Butler is your best player, you are in big trouble. |

butler is totally a me guy. when was the last time you said "holy shit look at that pass he made?" rose on the other hand, is like lebron where we are constantly saying TAKE IT TO THE HOLE DONT PASS but he does pass and usually before you can see what he sees the ball is already in an open players hands. butler is a lunchbox guy. he is good because he put in a ton of effort to get his body in crazy good shape. rose is a natural freak of nature. he is good because god wanted him to be, even despite his pussy attitude. |

Butler is a tool who is great on a bad team and a specialist on a good team. |

Butler as your third option is solid. As your first option your team is in trouble. As much as Rose struggled last season Thibs still felt much more comfortable with the ball in Rose's hands at the end of games. Butler works hard but he is not a special talent. He has maximized his ability and that is good, but his ceiling is still third option at best. It's not a knock on him but it's merely what I believe to be an accurate assessment. It's still a small sample size but the offense looks much better without his ball stopping ways. |

Anyone that thinks it doesn't have something to do with Butler's absence hasn't really been paying attention. You can see when a guy is being selfish and not running the offense. Stacey King and Funk were calling this stuff a month ago and now the drumbeat is becoming much larger. It will be interesting to see what happens when he comes back. They need the guy, but they need the guy to help guys become better. That will help the team. All of a sudden Hoiberg's offense doesn't look so bad does it? It is obvious where the impediment lay. They have scored more than a 100 points in 11 straight games. |

They lost most of those games too because they were giving up too many points. McDermott has looked good since the All Star break but it has nothing to do with Butler being out. He's making shots he was missing and being aggressive. His issue offensively appeared to be confidence. I called that earlier this month. |

He is also doing more of the dribble and is not being relegated to simply a standstill shooter. He has some athleticism. That checked out at the combine. They were pigeonholing him as a standstill shooter. He also wasn't getting enough touches. If he missed the first 2-3 shots they'd go away from him. The Bulls had 7 guys in double figures last game. I don't know if that has happened all season. The Bulls don't have defensive players, especially with Noah and Butler out. Gibson is their only defensive player and he is a below average rebounder and shot blocker. They have been getting murdered on the glass and rim protection has been porous with Noah out. The Bulls are going to have to beat teams by playing good offense and avg. Defense. They don't have the personnel to shut teams down defensively. |

I don't care what happened a month and a half ago. Right now they have given up 100 points in 11 straight games. We are talking about right now. |
