I'm leaving for Florida again tomorrow, so I'm not doing these for the rest of the road trip and probably won't be around much in general. The song-per-game idea kinda went off the rails, but oh well. I hope people found and liked some of the songs. Kinda sad I won't be around to rant about the Coyotes or Ducks, whom I hate.
The Kings are in a slump so bad it makes the Hawks look like they're in The Streak all over again. Fuckin' Dustin Brown with his 16 points, how must it feel knowing that Brandon Bollig has a good chance at passing you in scoring? And he made the Olympic team! Mike Richards has seven goals on the year, and the bottom half of their roster is almost totally in single-digit point production. That's bad. I was punching in the numbers for the teams and I thought my eyes deceived me, or I punched in the wrong number, but no, I didn't. These sons of bitches can't score anymore. They're all the way down to second to last. Nonetheless, they're leading the league in the other goal column. I guess they just lose 1-0 a lot. I also find it interesting that both teams are playing around four points below expectation, so really, either team is likely to bust a slump tonight in a big way.
I'd like to think the Hawks can come out on top here, having beaten the Kings in eight of the ten games they played in calendar year 2013, but there doesn't seem to be a limit to how much the Hawks can suck these days. I'm hoping for a big game from Kane already.
Hawks: 33-10-14 (80), 28-16-13 adjusted (69, dudes), 72.897 expected (that's a big gap that needs to be corrected) Kings: 30-21-6 (66), 24-23-10 adjusted (58), 62.050 expected
Hawks: 3.421 scored (1st), 2.632 allowed (14th), 0.789 differential (4th) Kings: 2.246 scored (29th), 2.070 allowed (1st), 0.175 differential (9th)
Hawks: 41/181 22.6% on the power play (5th), 133/167 79.6% on the kill (26th, is this real life?) Kings: 28/202 13.9% on the power play (29th), 180/216 83.3% on the kill (9th)
Game's on WGN, enjoy cameramen not knowing what they're doing
