Horrible schedule. Could the Blackhawks be any more screwed? Get ready for a losing season. They will be lucky to make the playoffs with this nightmare of a schedule.

The NHL should start and end a week earlier (regular season ending on the 12th of April? come on), but other than that, whatever. I don't like playing 32 games (39% of the schedule) that don't have direct playoff implications, but that's the way it has to be, I guess.

10 out of 12 on the road is one hell of a circus trip, but they've handled their business with the west coast swing the last few years; it's the Disney trip in January that eats them. The Perds are this year's only-play-four-not-five divisional team, so hot damn at 20% less Perd to sit through this year.

At Detroit on November 14th, at home February 18th. You play every Eastern team twice now, no matter how inconsequential they are.

The Canadian broadcast schedule has been finalized (or as final as these things get) while the local broadcasts have yet to be apportioned across CSN, CSN+, and channel 9. As a result, the schedule tells me that I can catch 7 November's Crapitals-Blackhawks tilt on Sportsnet Ontario, Sportsnet Pacific, and Sportsnet East, (but not Sportsnet West), but nothing around here. A Hawks-Avs game will appear on TVA Sports deux, because apparently Quebec can sustain a second feed of its second sports channel. A game with the Flames will appear on something called "City TV," presumably named in honor of the fact that pretty much all Canadians have fled their hinterlands to live in ugly slapped-up highrises in Toronto or Vancouver. Blackhawks-Blues on the 25th will be on FX Canada following another hilarious episode of It's Never Sunny In Mississauga.
