Down 2-0 late in first. Looking like another shit effort. Blackhawks have maybe 3 legit offensive forwards right now. Bad.

Yes, I munched on it while I watched the Hawks drag ass and take dumb penalties.

The silver lining here is that the Sennies are a mirror image of the Hawks -- bubble team with shitty depth -- so the game is still within reach.

The streak continues.
But this isn't a very good team. We're talking 7th or 8th seed and a first round bounce.

No way. Not a chance. Many fans forget just how awful the Hawks looked for weeks at a time last year early in the season. I told you then and I'll tell you now don't push the panic button everything's fine. R E L A X.

Maybe so maybe not.
They really look quite average other than Kane.

Kane needs 60 points in 56 games to hit the century mark. I think he can swing that.

This isn't the same team as previous years, SH. There are serious holes on this team that will be very hard to overcome in the playoffs where as the last couple of years you knew they would go far if they decided to give a shit.

We'll see how they do against Nashville and Winnipeg. If they can't kick both their heads in, yeah, probably looking at a first-round out. Someone's going to beat Dallas in the early rounds, though, and St. Louis and Minnesota will probably puke on their feet again. Might be looking at another Kings year.

I would be ecstatic if the Jets won the West.

But people were saying that exact same thing last year at this time. This isn't the same hockey team, they have too many holes, they don't look right, they're lazy, blah, blah, blah. Remember?

This team as constructed is insufficient. That may have been the case along the way last year, but I don't know that they have the means to fix it. Certainly we won't be stuck with Brandon Mashinter all year long (the Rockford IceHogs need their captain back!), but there are more holes than Stan can fill.

Make that 59 points in 56 games for Kane. What a play.

Scorehead, you want some evidence of how threadbare this roster is? Did the phrase "Michal Rozsival in his tenth consecutive game after returning from injury" give you pause? Rozsival shouldn't be playing ten games in a row on a good ankle.

Oh boy, Erik Karlsson in three-on-three play, this won't be not fun.

EDIT: The Hawks never had a prayer on that. Still, loser point and a three-point night for Kane.

Kane being the last man back instead of Keith certainly feels like a failure. But like I said, it was Karlsson. He was gonna burn or get burned. 23/27 on the night for Crawford, boy, that's not good. Power-play goals against in 20 and 26 seconds, boy, that's not good either.

Minnesota over Toronto 1-0 on a goal from Dumba55, which knocks the Hawks back down to fifth place in the division, four points up on Winnipeg, whom they just happen to play twice in the next four games. FLARIDA beats the Perds 2-1, whom we also happen to play twice in the next four games.

Toews on pace for a 47-point season. Meanwhile, Kane should hit 47 in about a week. Please get Toews actual linemates so we're not paying him eight figs to contort his face.

Same location on the ice earlier in the game...Panarin stumbled like he forgot how to skate. When it happened to Keith at the end, I wondered if it was some random sticky section of ice due to a bad coil underneath or something...It's at the end the Sens defend twice...Made me think back to the old Boston Garden and how Larry Legend and company knew all the little softspots to steer opponents towards...

Wouldn't surprise me. The Palladium was slapped up on the cheap; it's basically just the Palace of Auburn Hills with a bunch of corners cut. They already want to leave it and move downtown. There was this idea in the '90s that Ottawa would become Canada's answer to Silicon Valley and new development would sprawl 20 miles west to where the arena is. This never really ended up happening (I guess that ended up being Kitchener-Waterloo instead, at least until BlackBerry went tits-up), so the Sens have just been playing out in a cornfield for all this time and no one much cares to drive all the way out there to a cheap arena, especially from Gatineau. Of course, TSN is paying them like $35MM a year or something for TV rights, so that softens the blow.

Normally I would say that blaming a dead spot on the ice is a bit too conspiratorial, but then again it took 15 fucking minutes to replace a broken kickplate and the Sens are about to start petitioning the city for a new arena on national-capital land, so I wouldn't be surprised if cheap bastard Melnyk has begun a policy of benign neglect on the arena just like the Bucks did with the Bradley Center. "Our doors are rusting! We have to move. What do you mean 'just replace the door you dipshit'?"
