Had to happen after Danault was sent back to la belle province. Rather high, especially after a virtually pointless contract year mostly missed to injury. Wouldn't be surprised if they flip him over the summer anyway, as they did with Brandon Bollig. If he's here to stay, Shaw is a goner.

Toews is happy someone else will have a higher dollars-per-point than he does.

Also, this makes this season even more Cup-or-bust than it already was. Danault was penciled in as a Kruger replacement for years, only to be shipped off for expiring contracts so that Teuvo had wingers for the playoffs. Imagine getting dong-whipped by Minnesota in the first round, as they've been doing to us all year through their own ups and downs. No first, no second, no Shaw, and no cap space.

Trading Shaw probably gets you back into the 2nd round...

This team also has two of the hottest college prospects right now.

So, let's go win another Cup and figure out next season after the parade...

I'm all for this. Hey, Jason Demers probably out for the year for the Stars (who moved into first place with a loss last night because we can say that in the NHL), God only knows what kind of turnstile their blue line is going to be with the loss of a defenseman who isn't even that great in the first place.
