Kaner. So good.
His goal and assist today just put him in the lead for the scoring title. I had no idea he gained that much ground over McDavid and MacKinnon. This may be a borderline MVP season.
If they make the playoffs and he’s at top it definitely is .
If you're into MVP as "most valuable to his team," here's some napkin math. h-r doesn't put the day's games in till the next morning but as of the Vancouver win, Kane has 8.9 point shares out of 58.7, which is to say that he accounts for 15% of the team's success. MacKinnon is at 8.6/61 for 14%, Kucherov is at 8.7/85.1 for 10.2%. But there's Connor McDavid on the shitty Oilers with 9.6 of 56.5 for a whopping 16.9%.
So if Kane wins the scoring title, the Hawks make the playoffs, and he maintains a gaudy point share, then yeah, I don't know how he's not the MVP. Not only did he tank-proof this dogshit roster by doing things like lazily flicking the puck from behind the goal line and into the net, he might end up dragging them from 31st place to a wild card. Ridiculous.
Oh, and the whole Strome line had a three-point game, you don't see that every day.
