Kane and Toews putting in an absolute masterclass of tone deaf quotes tonight. This may be shocking, but I think part of the reason they’re inserting feet is they’re kinda dumb.

Yeah, probably. Way to come out strong captain.

One of the key lines in the lawyers statement explaining the findings of the investigation was that the organization did not follow their HR protocols, likely meaning everyone involved had signed something indicating they were mandated to report abuse. This along with seemingly everyone in the organization including the players knowing what happened, yet doing nothing should lead to a massive lawsuit win.

Interesting how the NBA has forced ownership changes based on statements made by former owners, if the NHL wanted to send a strong message they could force the Wirtz family out as owners and suspend the Hawks season until a criminal investigation is completed. There is no way ownership did not know what was happening.

McDonough is the guy who can absolve, or bury Rocky Wirtz.

I am not really sure what people want from Toews and Kane in this situation. It was 11 years ago. They were completely focused on winning hockey games and that is what they should have been focused on.

If teammates were teasing him, there is no way they didn't know about it.

It is a locker room of guys. I am sure there was teasing about all types of things, some true, some false, and what not.

When the suit was filed, Toews stated he knew nothing about it.

He lied.

Of course they knew about it. How much they knew...it probably doesn't matter. Locker rooms can be a pretty harsh environment in the face of weakness or embarrassment. Lots of false bravado and machismo in the air.

They were also kids too. There is no need to smear them for the organization's failures.

It’s not what they did years ago, it’s what they said last night. They knew the questions were coming and they made everyone the victims but Kyle Beach. They’re dumb hockey players and all but REALLY SMART PEOPLE needed to prep them on not being PR liabilities.

They both said it was brave of Beach to come forward and its a shame what happened to him.

Yes they are hockey players and they don't know what exactly to say. I doubt any of us in the same situation would have a good response.

I read over the quotes from Toews and he expressed his sympathy for Beach. He did not make everyone else a victim other than Beach. The stuff about Bowman is a little cringe worthy, but what are they supposed to say? No matter what they say or do people are going to tear them apart for it.

They did, and if that’s where they left it I’d have been fine with it.

Right...Kane and Beach are almost the same age. I'm sure they all know stories from the minors too. Lot of creepy coaches and host family members out there.

I mean no shit the locker room called him a burrito. Who can blame them after a 6'3 power forward was sucked off by 5'5 video nerd.

Kane expects people to believe he didn't know Beach was John Doe until now?

Probably because they don’t believe he is a victim .

To the locker room, it sure looks like 2 burritos got together and messed around.

I’m guessing that’s how the story was told. To a room full of 20 plus year olds you were either a pussy for not knocking the guys teeth out if you didn’t want it to happen or you wanted it to happen and you’re a ‘mo.

Maybe I misheard this morning, but did each of them use the term "happy-go-lucky" when referring to Beach's personality? If so, that sounds like something they would have been prepped on. Actually, one of them said "happy-go-lucky with a mean streak," which was even stranger.

So I think that leads to the very important question here!

How did the locker room find out?

Someone leaked what was said in that meeting, and it certainly wasn’t Kyle Beach or Brad Aldridge.

It sounds like Beach confided with a few other people and one of them leaked it

Funny thing is the Blackhawks wanted to bury it because they were worried about the room, but they probably didn't need to worry about the room ahead of playing Philly because the Philly room was dealing with their captain fucking teammates' wives. There's a reason Mike Richards got shipped out of Philly and it had something to do with Hartnell's divorce

I'm not a big hockey fan and I never knew this, but one of my friends played minor hockey, coached at New Trier, worked for the Hawks, runs a rink, etc. He told me this is common and well known in juniors, i.e. predator coaches.

Bernstein is positively orgasmic that this story has afforded him the opportunity to reintroduce Anal Rape Theater to the Score airwaves. He's rolling out all the old hits and has even brought Quad Cities Pat on as a guest to provide expert commentary!
