Call me crazy, but already this early it seems like the Hawks are just playing a notch or two ahead of anything the Kings might well bring all night.

Let's talk again in the third.

Period or goal? :eye:

Do you remember your third period, Nancy?

Pretty sweet passing play there. Looks like Richards finally settling in.

Yeah but Toews didn't score so theres that. He's no Anze Kopitar thats for sure. RE: Quick. Its just that he's supposed to be this all world goalie and Crawford is just a beanbag in pads yet as awful as Crawford played at times in that Kings series last year , it took a fucking overtime deflection to get LA past the Hawks. If he's supposed to be so fucking good and Crawford so bad, no way that should be more than a 5 game series. Truth is he gives up as many soft goals and is out of position just as much as Crawford but he doesn't take half the heat for it. Fuck him, he's as overrated as they come. He can eat the entire Thanksgiving sack of rotting cocks.

I think Quick is one of the best goalies in the league.
I've also been one of the people that have always said that Crawford is as well.

Over the last few years, in no particular order:

Rinne
Lundquist
Quick
Crawford

That's my top 4. Probably mix in Price for top 5, though to me THAT is a guy who gives up some softies too often.

Quick is a great goalie who had a horrific postseason last year. Had it not been for Gaborik and That 70s Line coming out of nowhere to score lots of goals, they wouldn't have gotten through to Chicago, where, in turn, they got through because their power play was buzzing while our penalty kill sucked. In the big picture, however, Quick is still up there with Rinne, Rask, and Lundqvist (who shat up the joint much of last season, it should be noted).

Crawford gets slagged because he plays behind the Hawks' possession offense, which generally limits his workload, and because he was horrendous in 2012, but in his big picture, he's comparable to Quick, who himself never gets downplayed for being behind a team that dominates possession. Also, once you make the Olympic team for the USA or Canada, as Quick did and Crawford did not, you're virtually bulletproof. No one was allowed to find fault in Ryan Miller's game for like four years.

Anyway, awesome circus trip, can't complain at all about 10 points out of 12 and a 23-12 aggregate score. This roster is finally jelling into what it was supposed to be: the team that was a goal away from the Final, minus Bollig and Handzus, plus Richards and competent Rockford callups.

No, wait, I thought of something to complain about. Gotta manage Rozsival's starts a little better! I agree with scratching Clendening against teams that might expose him, but that was the last two games and now with the Blues coming up, that's a third. Are the Perds a fourth? I know you don't want to throw a rookie puck-moving defenseman straight into the fire, but he's gotta play, especially when one of the other guys in the third-pairing rotation is really old and needs to be saved for the playoffs. Maybe we need another defenseman for that rotation. Might as well if Morin is just going to sit on the bench. We'll probably trade him to Florida by next Thursday.

You're missing a pretty big one on that list, Rask. He's at worst #2 and most likely #1 over that 3 year period.

Crawford is underrated, but he doesn't belong in that group.

Crawford is probably on par with Jimmy Howard, M-A Fleury, and Brian Elliott (yeah, I don't get it either): guys who get results and will occasionally steal games, but are largely products of possession offenses and can't be considered the best players on their teams for any sustained period of time, and always have that lingering outside chance that it all comes tumbling down (Howard a little less so in this regard).

Next step down would probably be Hiller, Mason, Miller, Luongo, Lehtonen, Varlamov, and Reimer: pretty much the same as above but with a markedly higher likelihood of utter collapse. Lehtonen's in one right now, though the fact that no one on his team can defend certainly isn't helping matters. Luongo, somehow, is the best player on his team right now, but I expect that car to run out of gas well before the "Panthers are incapable of scoring" one does.
