Darling got sent back down to Rockford after the game, so either Crawford is ready to back up Raanta, or they wanted him to get a game in before the weekend. No, never mind, Rockford's off till Saturday, too. Well then.

Well, Crawford's been skating with the team, and the Hawks don't play again until Saturday, either. My guess is Raanta starts Saturday and Crawford starts Sunday. Darling? I still think he is better than Raanta, and I think maybe the team thinks so, too, but...maybe they just don't think Darling's ready to step up permanently just yet :?:, or at least want him in a position where he gets some regular work in the short term.

I trust Darling more than Raanta at this point.

I do, too, but you can't deny that Raanta is fighting for his NHL life here. He and Darling have played about equally well in December. I suppose for the time being, tie goes to the second-year guy who didn't drunkenly bounce around the low minors for years. I think we can all agree that Darling is going to supplant Raanta in the long run, however. You can't teach size.

Who said that???

They definitely are building a nice team, but I've never heard anyone say anything resembling them being better than the Hawks anytime soon.

We have a Hossa sighting!

Hossa Shmossa. That goal came strictly as a result of Toews outworking the defenseman. There was no play there at all. Toews made it happen.

Hossa actually fanned on the shot which is probably teh only reason it went in. His offensive game has fallen off a cliff.

The real Bowman move would be to get rid of Crawford.

Going to have a hard time getting a team to bite on a $6MM goalie, going to have a hard time getting him to waive a no-move clause. The only scenario I can think of would be to leave him unprotected in an expansion draft, and I don't know if the no-move clause automatically protects him in an expansion draft (I don't believe NMCs existed in 2000)
