Can I just say how much it warmed my heart to see Phil Kessel and his stupid fat face have like ten chances to score the game-winning goal and not do it? Few things have chapped my ass over the last several years quite as much as the insistence of Maple Leafs fans that Kessel is better than Kane, and even though he's clearly not with the Leafs anymore, I still relish seeing him fail.

Kessel hasn't been awesome here. He's pretty one dimensional scorer and it too streaky.

 I think that's worse.

Some internet denizen is saying Toews got cut by Kane, aka nothing serious. Whether that's true or not, who knows. Sure as hell hope that's all it is.

Hot damn, Connor Hellebuyck goes 43/44 to beat the Perds 4-1. I'd love to see him drag the Jets back into the race kicking and screaming, though for him to do that would certainly jeopardize Panarin's shot at the Calder.

Numbers for Crawford so far:
1st in games played
1st in shutouts
3rd in minutes played
3rd in total saves made
3rd in wins
6th in total goals against
11th in save percentage
11th in goals against average

Nicely done.

Tonight's OT for those that would like to see it, or see it again.

I still couldn't tell what happened to Toews...appeared to go for his mouth or face at first. I couldn't see the contact.

Beautiful cycle out front that led to the Panarin OTGWG...

I couldn't even see Panarin's goal go in, it was such a laser. Conversely, the second goal that went to Toews (thought it was Seabrook's) just trickled and burbled over the line, all in front of the behind-the-net camera.

Great to come away with two goals in a rollercoaster period like that. Crawford has to be under serious Vezina consideration. If he doesn't get it, who should?

Holtby?

He ran mouth-first into the blade of Kane's stick. He's fine. (insert low hanging fruit joke here)

As for the game, getting really sick of Foley spending the entire broadcast hyping up Hossa. Apparently Foley and Q are the only two people in the world who haven't noticed that Hossa's legs have lost a very big step. He's not going to get that back. Stop acting like it will. Don't BS us and tell us that Hossa's production will "definitely go up the rest of the season". He has 5 goals. If Vegas set an over-under for his final tally I bet it would be 12.5 and I would take the under.

Toews also appears to have lost a step, albeit a much smaller step. Playing the two of them together has been a disaster this season, yet Q keeps blaming it on the random LW who happens to be on the top line. Time to consider that maybe Hossa is the problem with the first line. I was gonna suggest Teuvo-Toews-Shaw, but the Teuvo line is playing so well I'm hesitant to break it up.

I'll take the over, barring injury, on that 12.5 for Hossa. He's still a joy to watch. It's not like he's going anywhere either.

I think someone is coming in to play #1 left wing and I'm not convinced it won't be Kris Versteeg again. I have no idea what this roster's final form will be but we know it won't be this.

If Darling gets the start tonight, I've got my raincoat ready for the bloodbath.

Cheap expiring contract, known commodity. It's not likely but nor is it nonsensical.

Wow. Preds give up on Jones that fast, eh?

Wonder how much pull Torts had with this one, and will this accelerate his departure?

Torts should be out the door right damn now. He was a terrible signing in the first place; the man should be out of the NHL before he fucks Columbus up even more than it already is.

Sure enough, MAF B2B tonight, Darling for us.

Hawks have kept life easy for Darling thus far, which is nice.
