Thanks for the info on our new guy.

I am not sure what to do with the fact that CH seems happy to get him.

With that said, he still thinks we will suck going forward so all is well!

Fels made a great point that Vermette will be able to take a lot of defensive assignments from Toews and open Saad/Toews/Hossa up to score more. I'd like that a lot. With Kane out, Toews has to move beyond doing all the little things and do lots of big things. This could help.

Think more "poor mans Toews" than "poor mans Kane".
He is not a flashy scorer, but can win faceoffs and play both ends of the ice. And score.

This is clearly the guy they targeted and they got him. Hopefully it works. I'd still like another defenseman.

Did Sharp allegedly bang another female somewhat associated with the Hawks tonight?
This shit is getting crazy

Who is Sharp messing around with now?

Duclair, Moore and a 1st for Yandle, plus Yotes retain 50% of Yandle's salary.

The Rangers won't have a 1st round pick until 2017. They haven't had one since 2012. Four years without a 1st is probably not the best idea.

They're lucky Hayes was such a entitled bitch.

Not surprising given who their owner is.

Dolan doesn't really have much to do with the Rangers other than occasionally trying to sue the league over website banner ads or some such shit. Glen Sather pretty much has free rein to be an idiot.

BREAKING: Braydon Coburn to #TBLightning for 1st-round pick, 3rd-round pick and Radko Gudas.

The Lightning have an extra 1st from the awful St. Louis trade. Boy did they rip off Slats.

Gudas and a 1st for Coburn seems like serious overpayment to me. I haven't even thought about Braydon Coburn in years.

They got two 2nds from Boston for Brett Connolly. Pretty good for a tweener skilled player who isn't good enough to play on the top-6 nor gritty enough to play bottom-6.

Not bad for Montreal. Oilers are truly a wreck. Sekera and Coburn yielded a 1st. All the Oilers could do is squeeze a low 2nd and garbage.

CH, Kings have lost 3 straight and sitting 3 points outside the Wild Card. You may want to hold off attending the parade at LA Live in June?

Might not win the Cup but they'll at least get in. Calgary or Winnipeg will drop out.

The Coyotes continue to empty out the dressing room, Zbynek Michalek to the Blues for an undisclosed prospect/pick.

I hate to focus on non-hockey aspects of the team, but that appears (to me) to be the source of the problem. This team went into a hole in December (shortly after Reif’s suicide) and they haven’t found a way out. Like many here have said, it appears to be effort related which has most noticeably impacted the defense. Crawford hasn’t helped, as he’s looked average at best.

If there is an ounce of truth to the Patrick Sharp rumors, he simply cannot be on this team. It’s one thing for him to nail a teammates wife, but a team employee killed himself. Regardless of whether Reif had other depression issues, this is just too dark of a cloud. He needs to go. Yesterday. Unfortunately, all we can do is speculate and go off of what we hear.

I like the Vermette deal. I have no idea what to think about Timonen, but hope it pays off. I just fear it’s not enough.

I think this is just a $$ saving move for next year.

Either that or Bernstein is gonna have some juicy news about Ben Smith soon

sounds right spanky

The 6-foot-1 Desjardins, 28, is a physical presence who could play center or wing on Chicago’s fourth line. He had eight points in 56 games for the Sharks this season.
The Blackhawks will save $750,000 of cap space with this trade.

Now there is no reason Carcillo needs to be on this roster.

The story now is that it was Crawford that slept with Reif's wife, not Sharp.

Whatever may or may not be true, I don't really think it's fair to blame one goof for another goof's suicide. Sometimes life sucks. Get a fuckin' helmet.

Ben Smith was a fan favorite?

Every player on every team must be categorized as a fan favorite then.

He is a really nice kid & fans liked him. I don't like this trend of getting rid of good young players who have some skills & may have room to improve. First Leddy, now Smith.

When it comes to building your hockey organization, he was just a guy.

There are a lot of AHL players that are "good, young guys" who have "some skills" and possibly 'could improve.'

He is a depth forward...Hawks need space to re-sign Saad.

Smith wasn't going to be more than what he was: a fourth-line wing who is better than most fourth-line wings. He did well last year, but let's not get ahead of ourselves about his ceiling. I feel bad for him getting shipped to San Jose, though.
