So when Boston clears it. The Hawks bring it back up the ice. The Winger gets it just past the mid line. Why not just shoot from there?

That's more or less what my edit suggested. Once they gain the zone on the PP, have one forward going balls out at Rask following a shot. With the speed they'll have they have a good shot at the rebound or they can coral the puck and get it back to the D who should be open with the defense collapsing on the shot and rebound and then voila, the PP is set up. The players just have to be sure they aren't alone or it turns into an easy save and clear for Boston. What sucks with this idea is that Rask's rebound control has been exquisite and he's often deflecting pucks into the corner where the Hawks are either losing the footrace or physical battle and then the puck is cleared.

Does anyone know why Kane and Toews are not on the same line?

I don't believe that. If he's so smart why hasn't he tried that? They haven't scored a goal in 6 periods.

It was sarcasm. He's put 19 and 88 together for seasons in emergency offense needed type situations. Believing that he rather spread out the talent etc. If you read above I'm clamoring for the 88-19-29 line to be reunited. Best line the Hawks have had all playoffs.

"Instead he out smarts himself with the 67-19-16 bullshit and Julien doesn't need to worry about that line and can get MUCH more favorable matchups. Fuck Q. Even before this series started breaking up that line and started Bollig was a mistake. Why was he coaching against moves that haven't even been made?"

Northside Dan, this is what baffled me. Q started making moves out of the blue before we even played a game against the B's. Why not go with what worked. He had Kane going, had Bickell going as well. We were rolling 4 lines effectively. But no, he has to get clever and insert Bollig into the lineup and switch every line around. Why not play game 1 and if things don't go well then switch your lines around. This series has been a cluster fuck as a result

Exactly. All four lines looked dangerous against LA. Not it's all a cluster, Bickell looks like regular season Bickell again etc.

If 10-19-88 or 29-19-88 isn't a line next game I say we riot in the streets. No reason to wait til down 3-1 to use that line. Good posts, NSD.

If I see 16-19-67 on the first line, just turn off the arena lights and send everyone home. There's no point in any of this. It's nothing.

Take the uniforms and set them afire, load onto the bus, drive into the night. Sell the franchise. Rename the franchise.

I remember many Hawks fans on other forums being very upset that the Hawks visited Alcatraz before the Sharks series in 2010. A lot of "They could use this time to watch game tape!" posts.

Provided Hossa plays (didn't skate this AM) and Sharp takes faceoffs when 26 is getting worked, I'm good with those.

If Hossa plays, Bruins will go at him every shift he's on the ice. Might free up his linemates for some scoring chances.

So playing with some stats.

The Hawks are a +44 Corsi/60 when 19 is on the ice. Only +9 when he's not. His shooting percentage is 1.59%. He's been dominant and unlucky and then saddled with 16 and 67 last game for a bit by Q. Expect a regression to the mean hopefully starting tonight...

Toews is coming.

He has an upper body injury, I've convinced myself of this. Broken hand? Perhaps something with the shoulder? He's still lights out on defense and he skates great in both ends of the ice but he's losing key faceoffs, doesn't have the usual zip on his shot and isn't dominating board play in the offensive zone. He could light the lamp but I wouldn't get my hopes up on him tearing it up in these last few games. I'll be interested in seeing the injury report when this is all over with. If he's been healthy, he deserves the ridicule he's received.

Toews's shot doesn't seem to have much on it. Seems like a hand/shoulder injury is likely. Rozner mentioned reports of Toews icing his hand late in the third period Wednesday night.

Shit's still weak. The shooting isn't what the Hawks are missing. He can get his ass in front of the net which the Hawks are dying for. It'll be tough but its the Cup and why he was given the C.

It is more noticeable on faceoffs, where it appears that Toews doesn't have much strength.

Puck drop needs to happen ASAP. The internet has allowed for some good journalism to get exposure but plenty more terrible journalism even more exposure. Within 3 games we've gone from the Hawks know how to score against the Bruins, the Bruins hearts are broken after losing in 3OT, how can Bruins possibly recover to can the Bruins be beaten?

Utterly fucking ridiculous. Somehow the Bruins have morphed into the '70s Canadiens. The desire for page clicks has turned writers into dumbshit Chicken Little fuckheads.

Hockey dumb here, so I've got a stupid question: How do you all classify the Hawks' PP problems this series? I know they've had problems previously in the playoffs, but has it more or less continued this series, or are they just facing an indomitable defense? Well, it seems somewhat silly to suggest even curiously if the Bruins can be scored on, especially since the Hawks scored four goals in game one, but that's why I ask. I'll hang up and listen to my answer.
