You have to at least talk to Mike Sullivan, right? He might not want a building project given that he's leaving Pittsburgh, but 10 years with them presents at least the veneer of stability.

Listening to latest 32 Thoughts, and Friedman doubts Carle is leaving Denver and says there may be differences of opinion on the Hawks timeline back to relevance.

Probably have to. Not that a guy who couldn't get Crosby and Malkin into the playoffs is going to excite anyone....

Wouldn't hate bringing in Lou Lamoriello in as a consultant for the GM Boy Blunder.

Even at his advanced age, I don't think Lou "consults." He's hockey's ultimate micromanager.

Hard to believe a coach wouldn't want to come here when we have the future David/Crosby in toe with Bedard...hmm...

Absolutely need to talk to him. Was reading that he's high on the Rangers list.

the rangers gobbled him up in 2 days. i still prefer tocchet. i believe he's under contract with the canucks, until the end of june. that divorce is now finalized after rutherford's absurd comments about extending tocchet in vancouver. he may have zero interest in chicago...believe the bruins will have the least upside in 2-3 years, after a bruins/flyers/blackhawks 2025-26 selection plate. likely the flyers vs. the blackhawks - and that's only if chicago is interested and tocchet's not already personally overboard with a philly homecoming.

Sullivan to the Rangers and the Colorado coach wants nothing to do with the Hawks. Hard to believe nobody wants to coach here with Wonder Boy in tow....

I'm guessing the Blackhawks are back to Bill Wirtz-level toxicity around the league and no one wants this job. Luke Richardson was the hottest coaching prospect for like five years, we got him, and he sucked. We're basically the Sabres with banners at this point.

I think Tocchet goes to Philly. Or maybe Pittsburgh.

Yeah, being worst then second worst then second worst three years in a row will put off crusty old veteran coaches. I'd think that with the way they played at the end of the year and with all the draft picks coming of age, the Hawks will be interesting to someone other than Sorensen. Who that is, I'm not sure. Not sure if there are any up and comers in the AHL coaching ranks, especially those that have won the championship.

EDIT: Keep your eye on Todd Nelson of the Hersey Bears in the AHL...

No way they are at Wirtz level toxicity at the moment.

It's hard to watch them on TV, hockey operations seems to be behind the times and generally clueless, and no one's going to the games. It's close. At any rate, "no thanks, I'd rather continue to coach at the University of Denver" is generally not what you want to hear if you're not, like, a Junior B team.

If Carle takes another NHL job this year, then that should be a red flag. But if he doesn't want to leave there, then that's it for Carle. For now. He could change his mind when the Hawks on the cusp of contention.

I don't think getting turned down by the hottest coaching prospect in the world is a huge knock on the organization. We shot our shot against a guy way out of our league and he said no. Next.

heard friedman on nhl network and he told us that carle was upset that rival schools were using his 'impending departure from the u of denver', as a tool to lure recruits away from denver. wanted to immediately end the speculation of leaving. likely was 50/50 on leaving, once competing schools pulled that lever, decided to immediately end the speculation. guessing if he was 75/25 on leaving, would have left in a heartbeat.

nice to know that he's allowing the fickle choices of 17/18 y/o hockey teens dictate his short-term career direction. loyal to the u of denver.

After beating the Wolves in the play-in round, the IceHogs are leading Milwaukee (1 seed) 2-0 in the next round which is a best of 5.

Nice. Always fun to see meaningful IceHogs action. I've always enjoyed going to games in Rockford, where the seats are good and the fast food options are abundant.

The only thing I heard from my Hawks guy is that Danny has cut Hawks alumni events. He would be at them once a quarter with his dad, and I haven't seen him leave for one in a while. He said the alumni are not happy about it.

Probably more like 20 to 22 year old recruits dictating his career direction.

Long Island won the draft lottery, Hawks bumped to #3. Hopefully not disastrous.

It's not the NBA, you don't have to kill yourself because you're drafting lower than #1.

shakes is right, Bob should be ignored in any hockey threads. He knows nothing about it and just wants to troll and throw shit against the wall.

Maybe #3 is a blessing in disguise. Would it be nice to draft this D-man? Ya, but what if he is a bust? We already have enough good D-man, we really don't need another. I would like Misa, but maybe Martone is the better long term asset.
