I do not get it either. At first it was just get the truth and to their credit Spiegs and Goff have been that. B&B went hard trying to claim they didn't. Again, I guess that is their thing so...

i'd say that b&b's thing has been that (of course) kane is guilty and it's only a matter of whether he gets formally convicted of it. if there's a payoff then he's obviously guilty, if it goes to trial and he's found innocent then a guilty guy beat the case, and if the chick comes out at the presser and says "PATRICK KANE DIDNT RAPE ME AND IN FACT HE TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF HAVING ANY SEX THAT NIGHT" then dan will likely say he's still guilty of being patrick kane and why's he hanging out with rapists? the blackhawks are still pissed! kaner is still a dumbass drunken scumbag!

it's just picking on an easy target with a rep and in the end it's all about dan making look good and moral and someone you can trust and believe in because he's OUT FOR JUSTICE like seagal in the 80s or something.

Sini hitting grand slams here.

What is the point besides shakedown? They gonna say the prosecution is in the bag for Kaner?

She talks some shit like she was trying high profile cases!

2 good friends who knew her from the PD, both shake their heads when I mention her name...

Agg Sox Fan Bob, I am sure knows her as well and has some opinions...

but from talking about cases from the PD's office, they dont get all the recources they could, but thats because the amazing of high % of guys that didnt do anything....or so they claim.

I dont even really condemn her for having a predisposed thought in this case, thats what happens when people have things happen to them....yet, she spends all day on twitter fighting with people that she is just switzerland in this thing....

People (Berns/Julie/etc) that are truly trying to stay "neutral" should give tomorrow's press conference just as much attention/credibility as any other prior media releases from anybody in this thing.

Anybody want to take bets on that happening?

So, is this her private legal counsel, and not the DA/prosecutor? If so, sounds to me like the alleged victim's attorneys feel that the criminal case is slipping away, and are making a desperate last-minute publicity push that could end up in some kind of monetary settlement; otherwise, I can't see any good reason for them to call a PC. I would also think that the DA/prosecutor will not like this one bit unless they are about to drop the investigation and not even go to a grand jury at this point.

It is a message to Kane's side that they can stop leaking information that she is a whore.

I doubt they say much of anything though.

Her lawyers are trying to force a settlement, and their bargaining position has significantly deteriorated over the past few days.

I think so too but it still would be troubling if the report is true about his dna being on her fingertips and bite marks.

Agreed. The details of this story--as they have been reported so far--are very strange.

When the incident was originally reported, it was said that the accuser had scratch marks on her legs.

I wonder if there was any DNA evidence retrieved from those wounds. If so, it will be interesting to see who made the marks, especially since Kane apparently wasn't responsible for them.

There's no chance an update guy makes $40k.

FYI, a lot of people go to law school and don't become or quit being a lawyer.

It's not a great job market for lawyers right now, though the really good ones are obviously in high demand.

they make a Per shift $$$. $300? so you do 12 updates from 9-1? ...do the math....I know a guy makes about $550 to fill in for a host...so, work back from that, unless someone has a better idea.

Are the update people still part of a union?

If so, I would think the salary would be around 70-80K/yr.

I think a lot of them are subcontracted through Shadow Traffic. Not sure how that affects union membership but I'm guessing it doesn't help.

Does anyone know if George Ofman was an employee of CBS or Shadow Traffic?

My understanding that he was a CBS employee, and part of a union.

As far as I recall, his salary was over 80K/year when he was forced out at the Score.

Of course, he actually was a "reporter," not merely an update guy...

George was also there before Westinghouse bought Diamond Broadcasting, so maybe that's why he was better off.
