Guess I'll to hit the cave for this one since football will still be on. Had to buy and install a new microwave today, so I earned a few brews.

Seems like the Hawks take a lot of too many men penalties?

Rinne was great a few years ago but hasn't been the same, especially in lateral movement, since he had that staph infection back in 2013 (or 2014?). This Juuse Saros backup they have is supposed to be pretty impressive but apparently the fact that he's much smaller than Rinne still has a lot of people apprehensive.

You want to talk about overrated Perds, how about Ryan Johansen? The Hjalmarsson goal was largely because he went Controller Disconnected in his own end. They would have been much better off with Seth Jones.

Just turned the game on ... when does this thread turn into a faux voter fraud or gun law discussion?

Oh yes, though Our Precious Baby or whatever they call this year's slight-bodied European only had one shot out of like 70 or however many the Canes chucked. He has been playing fairly well with them but obviously not well enough and he did to some extent play himself out of town.

Meh, five shot attempts, two good minutes of kill time, not TOO bad.

How about Hartsy and a two-empty-net hat trick? Don't see one of those every day.

West Dundee represent tonight. There aren't many folks from this town, so we need to celebrate the few that get recognition.

Why don't West Dundee and East Dundee merge into one Dundee (to rule them all)?

Oh, and good win, I just don't think it tells you much -- not that winter-doldrums hockey often does. Perds played the Hawks about even, a puck went in off some guy's ass or something, and it all just sorta unraveled on them from there. It's a hell of a nut-punch to Nashville to come away with zero points, of course.

Looking at Nashville's neighborhood in the standings, it looks so important for the Hawks to finish first in the Central. Draw a wild card in the first round and you get one of, let's see, Anaheim, Edmonton, Dallas, Calgary, Los Angeles, Vancouver, or Nashville -- all eminently beatable. Finish second or (God forbid) third, you get St. Louis and Vladimir Tarasenko gives it to you in the ass and sends you home. How would the Hawks fare against Minnesota, whom they'd surely have to face? I have no clue because somehow we've gone 43 games deep without playing a key divisional rival.

Flip the script from the whole third period and I'd probably be a little annoyed with taking a loss but would still be able to tell it was a game where hockey hockeyed on you.

They played about even, edge to the Hawks (obviously). Nashville flung a few more shots but not good ones; they never looked like the better team.

Teuvo would have a game or two each week with no shot attempts and would look overpowered. The Hawks would be up shit creek if they had that Bickell contract on their hands this season.

I'm very mad that we lost Philip Danault for three weeks of a used-up project and another guy who never played. If we had been trading with anyone but Montreal and their thirst for francophone talent, we probably could have pawned off McNeill instead. Danult would look great in our bottom six right now, filling in for Kruger and eventually obviating him by the expansion draft.

Teuvo does seem to be a good fit for Carolina's poor-man's-possession offense, where they hold the zone, cycle, and chuck without having the elite scoring talent to really finish their extended chances. It all looks great on the stat sheet, it just never amounts to much.

Teavo at the time, was well worth the privileged not to pay Bickett 4 million this year, it's too bad they didn't know he had MS in June, they could have IR'd him right then and there for cap relief.
