someone needs to post a clip of that goal. Might not be another player in the world who can do that.
Ive watched a lot of hockey and ive never seen anyone who can do that with that kind of power on the shot .
I've been saying for over a year that he has the greatest wrist/snap shot in the history of the game...before he even played in a single NHL game.
It's a new style of shooting that came into practice in the past 8-10 years. Before then players were taught to to have the puck a certain distance from the body while shooting. Never have the puck in tight since you want to be able to fully extend the stick and arms on the pre-shot and the follow through.
The new school teaches to take the puck tight into the body which is very unnatural. Then you rely on the flex in the stick and your body weight to basically drive the blade into the ice causing massive torque on the flex resulting in massive stick bend in the shaft. From there you shoot and the compression from the flex acts like a spring and the result is Bedard. Not just a harder shot, but also a quicker release and able to get it off in tight spaces since you do the whole thing really close to your own body vs having the puck and shot path exposed a couple feet from the body.
Tough to explain it, I could do it better with a stick in my hand.
