I am pretty sick of hearing folks talk about winning percentages that ignore OT losses. Foley does this all the time including in the 3rd period of tonight's game against Dallas. He said Dallas was five games over .500 but still well out of a playoff spot. He was incredulous at how that was possible. Well Mr Foley, that's because you included OT wins in the win total but neglected Dallas' five OT losses. When properly counted, the team is exactly .500 and right where it should be in the playoff race. By excluding OT losses from the winning percentage, there are going to be a lot more teams over .500 than under .500.

I know in the game thread, CH does his own adjustment to get to the real records. That works for me too.

Coming into the game tonight, the Stars were .500 in W-L (which I don't care for) and .500 in W-L-T (which I do). Hawks sure fixed that.

It's such crap that something as simple as who won a game has to be so complicated in an otherwise simple game. It's just to pretend teams are better than they are. Like I said in the game thread tonight and in game threads past, I can't think of a team that profits more from point inflation than the Stars, who since 2008 have always appeared to be just above-average or decent when in reality they're average to bad. It sucks.
