Leddy was leaving after this season regardless due to his massive contract demands (and he has that massive contract already now with the extension). What pisses me off is that in hindsight they should have just let him walk. What they got back (Pokka mainly) is negated by the 1st and Dahlbeck they gave up for no goal, no playoff dressing Vermette. They would be in a far better position right now had they not made either trade.

You know what, I'd like to see anyone's cap solution to anything, myself very much included, without capgeek there to help.

The way to have kept Leddy would have been to trade Oduya, which sounds swell now, but at the time was a non-starter given how sheltered Leddy had to be here, plus Oduya's strong work with Hjalmarsson. However, that only would have bought one more year with Leddy, because as an RFA, his salary was going to skyrocket -- and it did. Trading away a guy under cost control was always going to fetch more than a guy heading into unrestricted free agency.
