Mully and Hanley had Joe Micheletti (color guy for the Rags, does lots of national work) on this morning. He mentioned that Antoine Vermette's wife is going through a difficult pregnancy, so Vermette wasn't in a hurry to move and put more strain on his professional and personal lives. That explains not only his poor play, but why he never seemed all that jazzed to be joining the Blackhawks the way most new arrivals are. He just wanted to stay home and play out the string on the sorry-ass Coyotes. I wish Bowman had known this going in. Maybe he wouldn't have made that trade knowing that the subject has heavy real-life stuff going on and doesn't give much of a shit about his job at the moment. Nonetheless, that disappoints me. He's not the first nor last guy to have life stuff going on -- look at everything going on in our own dressing room. That's the problem with these country-club markets like Phoenix and Raleigh. Guys are all too happy to blend in, clock in, and take it easy, then they can't handle the pressure anywhere else.

I agree Roszival tops the list right now, but he still had plenty of playing time following that goal in the first period.

He sucks, but I not enough in the eyes of Q.

Interesting comments on Vermette. What a disappointment.

He joins Richards on CH's list of guys who he thought would solve the second line center problems and ended up being terrible for them.

How can we get Versteeg's name on this list? I've always (sports) hated this guy. The king of holding the puck too long and either ruining a good scoring chance or drawing a teammate offsides.

I was VERY skeptical on Richards when the trade went down. There had to be a reason he was moved. As expected, he's been underwhelming. Vermette was a different story...it made sense for Arizona to deal him and on paper he was a great fit...it's been disappointing, but at least now we have a little bit of an explanation.

Regarding Vermette, I find it hard to believe the Hawks brass didn't know what was going on with his wife's pregnancy.

We didn't trade for Brad Richards. We signed him in free agency after the Rangers bought him out.

Something about her having drinks with Sharp about 8 months ago.

Whoops...you are correct.
Still...the Rangers didn't seem to want him and he was available. I simply remember being underwhelmed with acquiring him.

I thought it was good because it was a one-year deal, so he'd play hard for one last payday with someone else. Turns out he just had nothing left in the tank and the Rags were right to buy him out. He got to steal from two teams at once this year. He might get another one-year deal with a country club (Tampa is too serious about contending to give him a victory lap), but he won't get the big multi-year deal I thought he'd get.

It is possible with all the rumored cap shedding coming after this season that he will be right here again on a cheapie.

Richards? Nooooo, he's a goner. If we're talking about cap problems, it's more likely that Teravainen permanently moves to center.

Wild prediction: we do another one-year cheap deal for a forward whose team has given up on him, but this time around, it's Patrik Elias.

I believe a message was sent to Bickell last night.

I guess the Kimmo Timonen era is over too.
Clots ain't gonna play the next series from the looks of it
What a waste that was. Almost cost the run.

Q has some serious crazy in him to wait until game 6 of the WCF to make that move. I bet we see TVR in the finals because why not.

Bickell has played 17 fucking playoff games this year and managed to score zero (0) goals. Is a plus 3 somehow.

Bickell has to be out there. He's still the one guy who can go out there and hit people. We need him...just hope he limits the stupid to a minimum.

I don’t always understand the decisions Q makes. It can be frustrating, but in the end we are where we need to be.

It sucks that he has become a vagina playing in a big boys body. No one else has that body though so he kind of has to play. Hartman isn't going to suddenly get in a game at this point........I assume. He isn't even that big but at least he will do everything 29 is supposed to be doing with a smaller frame.
