Just picked up tickets for tonight's game. Let me know if you're coming.

That's really more of a private matter.

Congrats on the tickets though.

Have fun at the game! Where are your seats?

Bolts down to their #3 goaltender with Bishop resting and Vasilevskiy injured. It's, you know, that Latvian guy from the Olympics, almost stonewalled the Canadians? I think that had more to do with Latvia running a lowest-common-denominator shutdown system, though. Let's see how this goes. Win would be nice but not to be taken for granted.

I'm gonna watch this sum bitch. First time watching the Hawks this year. I forgot the new guys they got. Not that I ever knew who they were anyway. But I need to learn new names and numbers tonight.

Who's the best "New guy"? What's his number and position?

Artemi Panarin, #72, LW

With the exception of the second line, the Hawks look a little disordered on offense tonight. I wouldn't quite say the Bolts are humming yet, but they gave Crawford a few scares. Crawford has been great and both kills were just what we needed. All things considered, I'd say a scoreless tie after twenty is a very good place to be in. I think they can get to Gudlevskis, but that Tampa offense sure comes at you in waves.

EDIT: I should add that TVR is handling increased responsibilities better than I could have imagined and Garbutt has already had the best game I've ever seen him have with us or with Dallas. Daley and Rundblad remain useless. And these are two players Stan Bowman really wanted.

MUCH better second period, but that's one where the Lightning are in a good place by coming out of it with a tie (4 SOG, wtf).

Period bookended by completely asinine penalties from Rundblad and Shaw. Too many penalties in this game.

Great goal from Toews to win the game, but can we admit that three-on-three overtime is just as much bullshit as the shootout, and now that coaches are learning how to drag them out, we now have two forms of post-regulation bullshit?

Scoreless after three but hardly for lack of trying, overtime started, Toews won the faceoff and charged down the ice like a freight train to score adn win the game at 60:17. Trevor Daley was named the first star because I DON'T KNOW.

I declare this win most excellent, as it gets them two points and a ROW against a team I wasn't sure they'd get two points (or one point) against. Helps a lot in the Mission to .600 we're on till the end of November.

I was in Section 121. Got them from the box morning of. They always open up tickets day of game.

The Hawks really bottled them up after the first period. Tight game overall. Let me tell you, that 2nd line can pass. They are going to score some goals this year. It was like the Globetrotters on ice.

Crawford was the first star...

Yeah, Daley can go away any time, now.

Box score on nhl.com must have glitched because it reported Daley, Crawford, Gudlevskis, and I was like WHAT WHY HOW

Crow, Toews, and their goalie. They picked correctly.

My friend Tom took his dogs, Dumpster and Knapsack, out to a Forest Preserve in the western suburbs where Knapsack got skunked. He didn't know what to do and he didn't want to put her in the car because she smelled so bad. He called his wife Sherry in a panic. Sherry advised him to go get some tomato juice. About half an hour later Tom called Sherry back panicking more than ever and said, "I got the tomato juice but Knapsack refuses to drink it, what should I do now?"

What are the two things worse than getting skunked?

I was against 3 on 3 OT from the day it was announced, but I dont dislike it as much as I thought I would.

But yea...Toews is pretty damn good.

I'd prefer ties again to these gimmicks. The worst part is the three point game, which distorts the point totals for teams.

Straight wins/losses, no more points, ROWs as tiebreakers. We need to eliminate the loser point. A safety net is good for middle-class America, bad for NHL coaches.

The points system is dumb...but the worst rule in all of sports is NHL point scoring. Why is an assist worth the same as a goal? It makes no sense. A goal should be worth 2 points.

Missed most of the games due to work...how is Teuvo progressing or is he just treading water?

Because quite often the play that's most responsible for the goal being scored comes from a player who had the puck prior to the goal-scorer. Tip-ins and deflections being worth as much as playmaking is what makes no sense.

Treading water if not regressing. He hasn't been as conscientious whether with or without the puck as he was last year. Hossa wants Tikhonov at #1L and the second line is set, so he's been languishing on this patchwork third line with Hinostroza, who with all due respect is not ready for the NHL quite yet, and Ryan Garbutt, who has had one good game and been an ass sandwich or a healthy scratch in the rest. He hasn't been able to hack it as a center, which duh anyone could have told you given the Hawks' history with "center" prospects. I hope he gets it going soon.

Overall, this feels like what the addition of Panarin has done to Teravainen:

What I am seeing out of TT is, almost a hesitation of shooting or being aggressive. I feel, like he feels he was to give it up to the vets, and his hesitation is losing him chances to score. He is good, but he needs to be more confident. Maybe it is his age.

Yeah, from what little I've seen, Teuvo seems like he has lost his confidence. Very hesitant - almost like he's lost out there.

I'm also concerned about Shaw - looks like he's been Bickelling it more than not out there, and not playing the kind of game that makes him an asset.

I like what I'm seeing from Anisimov - seems he has no problem hanging out in front of the net.

Overall, though, my expectations for this team are very low this season (maybe get to the conference semis), and I think a lot of moves are yet to come once they see a bit more from these newer young guys.

Your very low expectations are finishing in the final four? There's a 1 in 6 chance the team doesn't even make the playoffs (Colorado should be guaranteed to finish seventh; they bad).

Isn't there like 2 other guys who do the same as Shaw, that are cheaper?

Anisimov, doesn't he kinda fill 2 different needs? Not saying he is a true PF.
