The Hawks dominated in shots, the Blues went on a penalty box parade, and no goals. Pretty demoralizing first period for the Hawks, one would have to think.

Get Mashinter the fuck out of this lineup by Friday. Play Weise or Panik; can't afford to burn a roster spot on some AHL chump.

Gonna suck when the refs have to even up the penalties after the Blues' blatant transgressions (they didn't even bother calling the by-the-book two-minute unsportsmanlike against Parayko in order to avoid two minutes of five-on-three) and the Hawks get whistled for some gentle brushing.

I have what might be a dumb hockey question but I have nobody else to ask. Why on a penalty kill do the Hawks (and other teams) stay in that tight little square formation in in front of the net? What's the strategy there? Answers and ridicule welcome.

Frustrating that Toews can't finish but its nice to see him all over the puck. Hossa and him are having good games.
