Good season but now there updated enrollment will boost them to 6a going forward. St. Laurence's enrollment is up over 300 students the last few years. There over 1100 now coed. Went from fighting with Queen of Peace over who would close first to now being one of the healthier Catholic schools on the Southside.

SICP plays in the Helicopter Parent Bowl on Friday morning versus Whitney Young. The game should draw tens.

The IHSA uses enrollments from 4 years ago. They will be with the big boys next year. Ignatius gets to drop down so they will have playoff hope if they make it next year.

They already have a hope. They made it to the quarterfinals in 8A last year.

The problem this year is the double punch of both moving up to the catholic league's top (blue) division while also having won the green division last year, resulting in them having to play a champions schedule. Three of their six losses this year are against likely state champions. Two of the other losses won games in the state tournament and all made it into the playoffs. There was zero room for error to get to five wins.

It was fun for what it is. Nobody was deluding themselves, including the players. It's like the NIT. It seems like the winner usually has a good season the next year. Might as well win, if you are going to participate and they did roll 115-35. They also played against a soph QB from Carmel who supposedly already has an offer from LSU and is transferring to IMG

My boy and two of his cousins have now played in prep bowls. That would have been a big deal way back when. Of course, another cousin played for two MC state champions so he was making fun of the medallion SICP received.

like I wrote earlier: they lost six games. three were against state champions. all were against teams in the top 17 in state rankings. They finished ranked 25 in the state.

It's a nice capper on a disappointing season. My boy will be back next year and is slotted to start, although you can't take that for granted. They'll be able to play a last place out of division schedule. They still have two definite and one probable loss with Loyola, MC and Rice in the division.

Before the Catholics started to throttle the Publics every year in the IHSA, my brothers and some cousins would go to the Prep Bowl playoffs every year. It was something I always looked forward to with great joy and anticipation.

Played int the Prep Bowl playoffs in '78 and got throttled by St Laurence.
