Fox replaces Stender as president, CEO of Sky

Adam Fox has been promoted to president and CEO of the WNBA Sky, the team said Friday.

Fox replaces Margaret Stender, who will continue her involvement in the organization as chairman and minority owner.

"It has been an enormous honor and joy to be involved from day one and see the Sky develop from a vision and a dream into a thriving multifaceted professional organization," Stender said in a statement. "In my new role I'll be available to consult with (principal owner) Michael Alter and Adam on a variety of matters when appropriate. And of course, I'll continue to be a highly involved fan."

Fox has been with the Sky since 2007, serving as chief operating officer.

The Sky finished a disappointing 14-20 on the court in 2010 and head coach/general manager Steven Key resigned at the end of the season.
