Practice officially starts tomorrow. Prairie Ridge is going to be the top ranked team in the area. Mt. Carmel has lost two kids to Phillips a couple more to IMG and looks like there is a good chance Thomas will be playing baseball for team USA and miss the first couple of games.

Thomas made the team.

And TCU is happy and nervous at the same time

They should put those thoughts out of their minds. Kid's had a hell of a summer showcase season.

And just made the tournament all star team at the World U18 tournament

I can remember when the coach at Phillips was attempting to build that program. We'd watch them practice while we played basketball on Sunday mornings at Ellis Park. Had to be about 7 or 8 years ago. One of the guys that I attended Phillips with said that they were going to be a monster in the near future. I looked at him like he was a damn fool. I marvelled at those kids dedication however. They'd be out there in 90 degree heat practicing football in an area reknown for its level of violence. 2-3 years later he'd been proven right. The program has taken off and the level of support from our Alumni has been great also.

Watching it years ago I was impressed and amazed by the dedication on display. Now I just smile seeing the number of kids out there daily.

Are my Knights going to have to wear their vests for their game Friday at Lindbolm? I have no clue what that area is like but when you get a 4pm start on a Friday something is up. They have lights so its not that.

They've combined the Earth Club and the football team due to austerity measures... no need to use electricity when we have the power of the sun.

Englewood starts on the other side of Damen where the field is located. They have lights, but little to no stands or parking.

40-0 Knights. Running clock and running to the bus before the sun sets. Someone had to have thrown a fit about the public league schools getting seeded so low in years past. I never remember this many teams hosting first round games....and aside from Phillips they will probably all end like this.

My 5-4 (now 6-4) Marian Central Hurricanes beat the undefeated Antioch Sequoits 31-9 last night. 14 points off turnovers.

Next up is winner of Payton or Glenbard South. Hoping Payton wins and has to make the 62.1 mile one-way trip to the farm boys in Woodstock. 8)

In a stereotypically Ignatius moment, I went to the Model UN cocktail party at the alumni lounge next door during the game.

Annawan Wethersfield stunned by Princeville in OT in the second round of class Action has always chuckle a touch when I meet linemen on these teams.

I’m just going to not post on my phone. I fixed a bunch of autocorrects but apparently didn’t look far enough back. Good lord that’s awful. I’m scheduling the MRI and a class at IVCC to learn English.

God I have so many great memories of hanging out with the kids from there (ESL) at state track finals marauding around Charleston.

It was us, Fenger and them vs everyone else at state

From the hallowed halls of Northwestern to IVCC . . . a fall rivaled by only that of Lucifer himself . . . and, of course, some of mine. IVCC probably has better-looking women, though, so this is not a loss.

That sounds about right. Maybe add Mendel Catholic.

Ever read Savage Inequalities? The chapter on East St. Louis was soul-killing.

Heard about the book, never wanted to sit down with it. Mendel folded before I got to go to state. Unfortunately.

Iowa Commit and Prairie Ridge Qb Samson Evans goes 66 yards in final 19 seconds to avoid the second round upset.

We played Princeville in HS. They would beat the shit out of Mt. Carmel.
