Catholic schools also grade differently.
A = 93-100
B = 85-92
C = 77-84
D = 70-76.

So, it's a little more competitive in the classroom.

Everybody likes to make a big deal about private schools playing public schools in the playoffs, but the private schools have to build a winning program and that takes years. There might be a good transfer here and there, but winning consistently in high school is usually coaching plus talent.

Honors and AP courses in public schools say they grade on that scale too and then your grades have a funny way of getting goosed up at the end of the semester anyway. But I'm sure that never happens to really tall kids at Saint Mary's Of Perpetual Despair.

Division 1 and 1aa are the same thing relative to other high schools. It is rare for most schools to have a 1aa level kid more than every few seasons (and I am not counting the Pioneer league which gives no money and recruits like D3).

It is actually 11 (3 who are on current roster) plus a a kid who chose to walk on at Iowa over going 1aa.

https://n.rivals.com/search#?formValues ... %22:100%7D

And I clicked on the kids with no stars. Some had offers some did not.

Schools with more kids in last 4 recruiting classes (16-19):

Phillips
East St. Louis
Bolingbrook
HF
Marist
Nazareth

If you want to go back a decade we could add Mt. Carmel, Montini and Glenbard West.

Phillips is ridiculous. But the little interactions I had with their kids and coaches, class acts.

Nobody is knocking a private school education, which is universally superior to the public schools. The issue is two teams playing with different sets of rules in the same tournament.

So the factoid, while true, is 100% irrelevant.

If we only look at the information you posted we already see that there are four public schools compared to three private schools, including Loyola.

I do not concede that there is no difference between 1 and aa for the reasons I already outlined. Remove Ivy, as you did Pioneer, because of the similarities of their recruiting restrictions and what is the remainder?

I can't comprehend what constitutes academic excellence anymore. When I was in school the valedictorian graduated with a sub 4 and the school took pride in its rigorous grading. Now its the steroid era of high school GPA.

Changes by one kid.

I will not remove Ivy League as they will not recruit kids who can not play at the 1aa level at a minimum. You said Loyola does what they do with less talent which is false. The separation between public and private is seen more at the mid level enrollment schools like JCA, Montini, and Nazareth who have D1 kids on a yearly basis and play public schools who see a D1 kid once every ten years.

Definitely. I have a brother who teaches at Ignatius and he would readily agree.

Ignatius was late to the game with it and had to change almost out of necessity. In truth they still seem to be on the low end of the scale. Loyola had insane grade inflation going back to even my days. Kids with whom I went to grade school who were in slow classes were suddenly B+ type students.

That's the problem. Now you have to inflate the grades out of fairness. At least the kids at SICP come in pretty sharp. I taught the valedictorians of several high schools, and man . . . not good.

Our valedictorian asked why blind people can't drive if deaf people can.

In my very small graduating class I would say that 20% of the class was more intelligent than the valedictorian and salutatorian but took a far more rigorous class load that had zero weight added to it. I imagine they weight them now but in past would send letters with applications explaining nonclassrank and grading system.

Nice. That's what they need. Time eating drives. Hopefully they can force a turnover or two because it doesn't look like they're gonna stop them on downs very often.

Well it took them about 30 seconds to turn that turnover into points. Gotta protect the ball, fellas.

This RB from Montini going to Illinois is a quick little bastard but definitely not a between the tackles runner. They may use him as a kick returner or slot receiver. Using players creatively is not Lovie's strong suit.

What the hell is Montini thinking!?! They're gashing them on the ground but they keep letting a sophomore QB throw it. You knew he was bound to throw a pick.
